Valve for hot fluids

The valve has a valve plate (1) which seals the duct and which is made from two circular plates joined at the rim and with cooling ducts in the space between the plates. The ducts are defined by internal walls (9) and the cooling flow is via the swivel mounting of the valve. For improved effect the rim of the valve element is formed by a hollow bead (2) through which the cooling flow is ducted first and then through the main body of the plate. Different configurations of the internal cooling duct are used depending on the cooling requirements.

Proposed is a device for actuating a double conduit gate valve with a master valve (10) and, associated with the master valve, a bypass valve (11) whose valve rods (21, 20) are coupled directly to each other by means of a double-armed lever mounted on the valve housing (35) so that it can pivot, so that when one valve moves into the closed position the other valve moves into the open position and vice versa. The double-armed lever (12) has a fixed pivot point (13). In each of the arms (14, 15) of the lever (12) is a guide slot (16, 17) designed to accommodate a lug (18, 19) on the corresponding valve rod (20, 21). The guide slots (16, 17) are shaped and matched to each other in such a way that, in every relative position of the master and bypass valve, i.e. in any angular position of the pivoting lever (12), an essentially constant pressure difference is maintained throughout the whole valve assembly (10, 11).

Catalytic cracking plant using electrostatic valves to control fine solids flow from reactor and regenerator

The catalytic cracker reactor (16) and regenerator (17) are connected by a solids flow line (22). Fluid hydrocarbon (CnHm) is supplied at a point (13) below the regenerator. On one side of the supply, the hydrocarbon ascends a catalyst riser (14) to the reactor; on the other side a tube (15) with shut off valve, descends from the basal outlet of the regenerator, supplying catalyst. In this novel system, the descender (15) shut off valve (31) is electrostatic, having spaced electrodes setting up an electrical field in the solids flow path. On varying the field, flow alters accordingly, completely blocked when appropriate. At high temperatures, the electrode material always has lower electrical resistance than the solids, esp. over 700-900 deg C. Also claimed is a procedure to control the flow of a catalyst composed of loose solids, substantially as described.

The invention concerns a sealing arrangement for a blocking member (3), such as a slide, a flap and the like, which can be moved from a closure position into an opening position and vice versa. The arrangement comprises a sealing ring (2) which can be moved with its sealing surface (6) into a sealing position when the blocking member (3) is in the closure position. The sealing ring (2) is embedded in a peripheral, groove-like depression (18) in a multi-layered, flexibly resilient membrane (1) and can be moved with its sealing surface (6) into the sealing position under the effect of a pressure medium acting upon the membrane.

The invention concerns a sealing arrangement for a spindle (1) which is guided in an axially movable manner out of a housing (2) which is pressurized by an operating medium. The arrangement comprises a plurality of packing box - annular sealing elements (16, 18, 21, 23, 25, 27) disposed one after the other at axial spacings in an annular chamber (5) formed between the spindle (1) and the housing (2). The annular sealing elements (16 ff) are axially pre-tensioned from the housing interior (40) by a pressure-transfer component (6) upon which the operating medium acts.

Appts. for blocking high-temp. media

The appts. intended for blocking high-temp. gaseous media consists of a housing (1) with cooled seats (2,3) and a cooled movable blocking element. With the exception of the seats and the blocking element, all surfaces of the appts. coming in contact with hot gases are provided with a refractory lining which at least in parts is made up of two or more layers. There is layer with high heat insulation between the metal structure (13) of the housing and the layer (15) of the lining in contact with hot gases. The layer has micro and/or macro cavities (14).

The invention concerns a gate valve having a housing (13) which comprises an inlet connection piece (16) and an outlet connection piece (18) and which accommodates a slide member (21) containing two closure plates (1, 2). The slide member (21) can be moved between two mutually opposite bearing surfaces (14, 15) transversely to the connection pieces (16, 18) which are disposed on a common axis (24). When the slide member (21) is in the closure position, the two closure plates (1, 2) or their sealing surfaces (25, 26) lie closely against the respective associated bearing surface (14, 15) of the housing (13) under the effect of a pressure medium which can be introduced between the two closure plates or sealing surfaces. Stiffeners (36 ...) act in the central region of the mutually facing sides of the two closure plates (1, 2).

Device for cleaning of spaces with difficult access

The device has a restricting step (17,18). This is situated upstream of the space (16,13) for cleaning, in the direction of flow (2), and from which working medium free from dirt particles and similar solid matter is diverted to the space for cleaning. The restricting step is formed by a guide plate (5,4) protruding into the flow and which with an area of the flow limiting wall (19) forms a cone open against the flow with a flow passage of its outlet (8) smaller than that of the inlet (7).
