A method for aligning digital 3D models of dental arch pairs, including a mandible and maxilla, to bring them into bite alignment. The method estimates representative planes for the mandible and maxilla 3D models and transforms the models such that the representative planes are each aligned with their respective coordinate systems and shown in a horizontal view. The method also transforms the models such that the mandible and maxilla are each aligned with a same coordinate system and shown in a front view. The digital 3D models are then brought into bite alignment such that the mandible is in occlusion with the maxilla or within a distance near to occlusion. A multi-element fiducial reference pattern observable by a tracker may be transferred directly to the skin proximate the surgical site, either through a stencil as a radio-opaque ink pattern or via transfer tape, or may be applied in prepared form on a surgical incise film. Alternatively the surgical incise film may be applied over the surgical site and the inked reference pattern applied to the film before surgery. A controller determines the three-dimensional location and orientation of the surgical site by comparing the position and orientation of the reference pattern in a prior scan with the position and orientation of the reference pattern in image information about the surgical site obtained from the tracker. The invention relates to manufacturing a surgical guide to be placed in a patient's mouth. The patient's mouth is scanned to obtain surgical-region scan data at a region where an implant is to be located. The patient's mouth is also scanned in the opened position to acquire dental conditions opposite from the surgical region so as to obtain opposing-condition scan data. A virtual model is developed using the surgical-region scan data and the opposing-condition scan data. Using the virtual model, a surgical plan is developed that includes the location of the implant to be installed in the patient. A virtual surgical guide is also developed based on the surgical plan. The dimensions of instrumentation to be used with the surgical guide are checked to ensure they will fit within the mouth by use of the opposing-condition scan data. Also included is a collimator unit having an X-ray collimator and first and second signal detection elements spaced apart from each other with the X-ray collimator positioned therebetween, the first and second signal detection elements spaced apart from each other, to thereby facilitate aligning of the collimator unit with the one or more sensing elements according to detection of signals from the signal generation element. Further included is an indicator unit located on the collimator unit, the indicator unit configured to display a determination as to whether the collimator unit is properly aligned with respect to the intraoral sensor. 1. A method of manufacturing a scaffold for treatment of a tooth extraction socket and implantation of a dental implant includes receiving dental implantation information of dental CT data which is previously input via a terminal of a manager; manufacturing, by using a three-dimensional (3D) printer, a 3D model comprising alveolar bones and teeth, which are distinguished therebetween, based on a medical image file that is a medical image file (DICOM file) of the dental CT data; performing virtual tooth-extraction by removing, from the manufactured 3D model, a region corresponding to a tooth in a tooth-extraction target area; and manufacturing, by using the 3D printer, a scaffold to be placed in an actual tooth extraction socket according to a shape of a tooth extraction socket that exists in the manufactured 3D model as a result of the virtual tooth-extraction, wherein, when the scaffold is manufactured, image data of the scaffold is amended to allow a guide hole for implanting the dental implant to be formed in the scaffold based on the dental implantation information. 1. The signal of the missing pixel in each row can be reconstructed by interpolating the signals provided by the adjacent pixels of the row. The detection photodiodes are identical to the photodiodes of the active CMOS pixels. Teeth are screened for periodontal disease using digitized images manipulated and annotated on a processor. A digitized radiographic image of a tooth shows locations of a bone boundary and a cemento-enamel junction (CEJ) of the tooth. The digitized radiographic image is marked on the processor with a location on the bone boundary and with a pair of CEJ points at opposite ends of the CEJ visible in the radiograph. An apparatus for obtaining an intraoral x-ray image from a patient , the apparatus comprising:an x-ray source;a radio-frequency transceiver coupled to the x-ray source and energizable to transmit an interrogation signal, wherein the transceiver is in signal communication with four or more antennae;an intraoral image detector that forms an image upon exposure to radiation received from the x-ray source;a radio-frequency transponder that is coupled to the image detector and is configured to respond to the interrogation signal by transmitting a wireless response signal;a control logic processor that is in communication with the transceiver and that provides an output signal indicative of the spatial position of the image detector according to response signals received from the transponder at the four or more antennae; andan indicator that responds to the output signal by indicating the relative position of the image detector.2. A dental x-ray sensor holder for securing an x-ray sensor to a holder using suction created between the sensor and a backing plate of the sensor holder. The dental x-ray sensor holder generally includes a bite block with a first end and a second end, a backing plate affixed to or formed contiguously with the second end of the bite block, and an opening to a cavity in the holder, wherein said cavity leads an evacuation chamber for creating a vacuum between the holder and an X-ray sensor. 1. A dental X-ray imaging media holder according to claim 1 ,wherein the backing plate has ridges or protrusions that allow for an even evacuation of air from the evacuation chamber, wherein said evacuation chamber lies between the X-ray imaging media and the backing plate.3. A dental X-ray imaging media holder according to claim 2 ,wherein the backing plate comprises a substrate and a soft material, andwherein the soft material is attached or bonded to said substrate to enhance a suction effect between said X-ray imaging media and said backing plate.4.
