At least one, if not all of the weight elements have different outside diameters to cause the weight elements to vibrate in the cavity at different frequencies. At least some of the frequencies of the weight elements are different than a fundamental chatter frequency of the cutting tool, thereby dampening vibration of the rotary cutting tool during a machining operation.

The face miller is equipped with a plurality of plate-shaped hard material cutting inserts that are distributed over the circumference. The hard material cutting inserts are located on a graduated circle in pockets of a blade carrier and have a main cutting edge, which is adjusted at a cutting edge angle smaller than 90° relative to the working plane of the miller. In order to ensure maximum machining performance at a good service life, the cutting edge angle is selected to range between 10° and 30°, wherein the main cutting edge at the same time has a slightly convex design. The main cutting edge transitions into the secondary cutting edge via a transition radius having a value that ranges between 0.5 and 1.5 mm. The axial rake angle ranges between 20 and 30°. According to an advantageous further development, the radial rake angle ranges between −6° and −10°.

A cutting insert is arranged in a tangential direction on an outer peripheral portion of a tool body, the cutting insert having a reduced area in a top view thereof. The cutting insert has an upper face, a lower face and at least five side faces extending between the upper and lower faces. The upper face of the cutting insert has at least five intersection portions intersecting with the at least five side faces. The at least five intersection portions include first and second intersection portions and third and fourth intersection portions shorter than the first and second intersection portions, respectively. A cutting edge is formed at each of the first and second intersection portions. A rake face is formed on cutting side faces corresponding to the first and second intersection portions, respectively, while a cutting edge flank is formed on the upper face. 1. Improvements in an outside chamfering tool are disclosed. The outside chamfering tool is made from an assembly of pieces. The outside chamfering tool uses multiple removable and replaceable cutters. The use of multiple cutters allows the cutters to create an outside chamfer to a point. A method is disclosed that prevents the formation of steps and allows for a smooth transition between flat and curved surfaces by using a profile cutter with an obtuse angle. This angle can ensure that the boundary between the flat surfaces and curved surfaces forms a shallow peak rather than a step. A shallow peak can be relatively easier to blend during a polishing operation than a step. As a result, the boundaries between surfaces can be hidden from the user of the device and the manufacturing process can be more efficient. 1.
