A method of plugging a honeycomb body is disclosed herein, the method comprising: applying a mask layer to the honeycomb body defining a plurality of channels, wherein the mask layer defines a plurality of holes aligned with the plurality of channels; rotating a roller drum; moving the honeycomb body over the roller drum to define a nip between the roller drum and the honeycomb body; and inserting a plugging cement in the nip between the roller drum and the mask layer such that the roller drum forces the plugging cement through the plurality of holes of the mask layer into the plurality of channels of the honeycomb body. 1. A method of plugging a honeycomb body , comprising the steps of:applying a mask layer to the honeycomb body defining a plurality of channels, wherein the mask layer defines a plurality of holes aligned with the plurality of channels;rotating a roller drum;moving the honeycomb body over the roller drum to define a nip between the roller drum and the honeycomb body; andinserting a plugging cement in the nip between the roller drum and the mask layer such that the roller drum forces the plugging cement through the plurality of holes of the mask layer into the plurality of channels of the honeycomb body.2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the roller drum comprises an embossed feature.3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the embossed feature comprises a lip having a perimeter larger than a perimeter of the honeycomb body.4. In addition, the present invention produces advantages of minimizing the fraction defective occurred in manufacturing processes by the engraved groove or the projected part provided on the cover and the handle, and manufacturing the ceramic cover wherein the cover and the handle are more firmly attached. As a result, when the ceramic cover having a cover and a handle in different colors is manufactured by the present invention, the effects of allowing mass-production are produced.

The cut brick is aligned by four plates on a conveyor which stops periodically and the pair of plates on the two ends of the brick contg. the holes is then retracted so rolls can be used to compact these two ends, thus sealing the holes. The machine pref. consists of a frame mounted above the conveyor belt and used to locate cylinders which operate the aligning plates via lever mechanisms. When the brick is in position, two sets of rolls travel along twin toothed racks to seal the holes and reduce the brick to size.

Extrusion machines; cutting-machines; processes.-Closed hollow bricks are formed by producing a tubular body and a strip of material, severing sections from the tubular body, bring- ing the open end of the section into proximity to the, strip and applying a portion of the strip thereto to close the end. As shown, a tubular body 5 and side strips 11 are extruded simultaneously from a die 6 and the body is severed by a wire 19 into sections 2 which are advanced at a faster rate by a conveyer 17 to a turn-table 21 where the section is turned through a rightangle and is closed by portions of the strips 11 severed and applied by plates 25 actuated by cams 23. To facilitate adhesion, the strips 11 are roughened at 15, Fig. 1, and sprays 20<a> are provided to moisten the material. The strips 11 are diverged to clear the table 21. From the table 21 the closed brick is pushed by the following section on to a faster moving' belt 22, the section being arrested by a stop 34 on the table. The table 21 is carried by a shaft 24 which is rotated intermittingly through a clutch 85. Four stops 34 are carried by the table and are controlled by a stationary cam 39, so that, in the rest position of the table, three of the stops are depressed by cam portions 41; the fourth stop is energized by a flexible cam portion 42 which is normally depressed by springs but is raised by an electromagnet 52 energized by the closing of a switch 65, Fig. 3, by a completed brick on the. conveyer 22 so as to elevate the stop to arrest the section 2. The section 2 moves the stop laterally, against the action of a spring 36, and closes a switch 40 which energizes an electromagnet 57 to close the clutch 85 through a lever 78, the circuit being opened after a quarter revolution of the shaft through an insulated slipring 70. Disclosed is a production method of a sealing honeycomb structure comprising a sealing step for immersing a press-fit base (22) having a planar press-fit surface and a spacer (26) into a sealing material (25) in a storage tank (21) under such a state that the press-fit surface faces upward and the spacer (26) is mounted on the press-fit surface, taking out the press-fit base (22) mounting the spacer (26) thereon from the sealing material (25) stored in the storage tank (21), arranging a leveling member (28) in parallel with the press-fit surface and in contact with the upper surface of the spacer (26), forming a sealing material layer (27) by moving the leveling member (28) along the upper surface of the spacer (26) and leveling the sealing material (25) to have a uniform thickness, mounting a honeycomb structure on the press-fit base (22) while pressing one end face of the honeycomb structure against the press-fit surface from above the sealing material layer (27), and press fitting the sealing material (25) from the end of a cell and then taking out the honeycomb structure (12) from the press-fit base (22). The production method of a sealing honeycomb structure can produce a sealing honeycomb structure having a uniform depth at the sealing portion by using a simple method.
