Bottle gripping article carrier

The invention relates to a top gripping article carrier (60) for holding a plurality of articles, for examples bottles (B), in an array to facilitate the lifting and carrying of the articles. The top gripping carrier (60) comprises a blank forming a series of panels for forming top (18), bottom (14) and side walls (12, 16) of the carrier (60). The bottom wall (14) of the carrier (60) is provided with a first row of article receiving apertures for receiving an upper portion of an article to be held by the carrier. The carrier (60) further comprises a keel structure (26, 28, 34) which extends alongside the first row of article receiving apertures and is formed from material used to create those article receiving apertures. The keel structure (26, 28, 34) is interrupted by a series of separations between adjacent article receiving apertures, and the keel structure (26, 28, 34) spans a length of the carrier (60) which is greater than the length of the interrupting separations.

A can &c. wrap round carrier carton has a contents retaining formation at the upper corners at least, formed by panels attached to the adjacent carton walls and joined to each other and the walls by fold lines. Each formation consists of panels 48, 49 joined to walls 1, 2 by diagonal fold lines 50, 53 and to each other by a fold line 56 at right angles to the carton body fold line 3. The fold lines between the panels and walls indicate cuts. In the formed carton, the panel 49 lies flat against the wall 2 and the panel 48 curves down from the wall 1, with its end opposite the fold line 50 lying flat against the panel 49. This end is held in position by the adjacent end can. Separator tabs 12-14 and 26-28 are provided and can end engaging flaps 34-37 have web portions 40-43 at one end of their fold lines to render them more effective.

In the form shown, the blank is placed downwards on to the necks of the bottles so that as the side portions 18, 23 are pushed downwards, the necks of the bottles are moved inwards to engage portions 61. Caps are, then applied to the bottles so that when the carrier is carried by means of the hand holes 62 the arcuate portions 60 engage the bottoms of the caps to take the weight of the bottles. A carton (Cn) accommodating two rows (R1, R2) of uniform containers (C) comprising a top panel (12) overlying the tops of the containers and a base panel (16,18,20,22) interconnected by spaced side wall panels (14,24) to form a tubular structure. The base panel includes a pair of outer base panels (16,22) adjacent respective ones of the side wall panels and on which base portions of the containers are seated and a pair of inner base pan is (18, 2? dislodged upwardly between two adjace rows of containers to form a keel (72) therebetween. Each inner base panel is formed with apertures (54,56,58 and 60,62,64) which receive and locate lower portions of the containers so that they are held spaced relative to one another. A plurality of partition panels (66,68,70) extend from the keel separating adjacent containers in one row from those in the neighbouring row the partition panels being connected to the top panel thereby maintaining the structural rigidity of the keel.

The invention relates to a display container-package for four glasses or similar items arranged in a square. This package consists of a blank made of cardboard or the like which, by folding and gluing, forms a frame and at least one vertical partition 3 parallel to the vertical sides 5, 7 of the frame . Cuttings in the vertical partition and in the end of the blank form tabs 9, 10 which make up, by folding over into the horizontal position, housings for the bottoms of the items. Tongues 14 immobilise the partition 3 in the vertical position. The tabs 9 and 10 may be replaced by vertical flaps which form a second vertical partition perpendicular to the first.

X-7381 CARDBOARD DISPLAY CONTAINER A carton is disclosed for containing and displaying cylindrical objects such as drinking glasses or canned goods, and a single foldable paperboard blank form is disclosed for making the carton. The carton is in the form of an open ended sleeve having a divider panel providing adjacent sections for receiving the cylindrical objects, and folding tab members interengaged with the divider panel to retain the objects within the open ends while providing maximum visible exposure of the objects at the carton sides and ends. Tabs in the top and bottom panels of the carton provide finger holes for carrying the carton and extend into the carton transverse to the divider panel and between adjacent objects in the direction between the open ends of the sleeve.

COLLAPSIBLE DISPLAY CARRIER AND METHOD OF MAKING

A display carrier for glassware or the like is foldable from a generally flat, collapsed condition for shipping and storage to an erect position for retaining at least a pair of articles. The carrier is formed of a flexible material which forms a top wall, a bottom wall and a pair of side walls, each side wall being hinged to each of the top and bottom walls to form a carrier sleeve. A reinforcing wall extends between the top and bottom walls. Planar retaining tabs are resiliently connected along a foldline of the top and bottom walls, and each tab is contoured to match a part of the surface of the article to be carried. The abutments are formed by folding extensions of one or both flaps 18, the number of folds being doubled when only one flap is used so that the head extends substantially the whole of the distance between the bodies of the cans immediately inward of the chimes.
