The use is described of polymers which contain, in copolymerized form, an α-olefin, a vinyl ester and an ester of an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid as an additive for fuel oils and lubricants and in particular as a cold flow improver in fuel oils. In addition, the fuel oils and lubricants additized with these polymers; and also additive packages comprising such polymers are described. 1. The use of a polymer which contains , in copolymerized form , an α-olefin , a vinyl ester and an ester of an α ,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid as an additive for fuel oils and lubricants.2. The use according to claim 1 , wherein the polymer contains the vinyl ester and the ester of an α claim 1 ,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymerized in random distribution.4. The use according to claim 3 , wherein the monomers M1 claim 3 , M2 and M3 are present in the polymer in the following molar proportions:M1: from 0.60 to 0.98M2: from 0.01 to 0.20M3: from 0.01 to 0.20.5. The use according to claim 3 , wherein monomer M1 is ethylene.6. Additive composition mixtures and methods for synergistically maintaining low surface voltages of distillate fuels that include a synergistic conductivity improver additive composition for a distillate fuel. The additive composition includes: A) a mixture of (i) alkenyl polysulfone polymer, (ii) C16-C24 substituted maleic/polyamine copolymer, (iii) sulfonic acid, and (iv) aromatic solvent; and B) a mixture of (i) alkenyl polysulfone polymer, (v) polymeric reaction product of a C8-C18 aliphatic amine or diamine with epichlorohydrin; (iii) sulfonic acid, (iv) aromatic solvent; and optionally (vi) a quaternary ammonium compound. An additive composition improves the stability and the engine performances of gas oils, including gas oils of the non-road type in compliance with the decree of 10 Dec. 2010. The additive composition includes: 1. A liquid fuel composition of a gas oil type , comprising:a majority part of a mixture based on liquid hydrocarbons having distillation temperatures comprised between 150 and 380° C.; and at least one metal deactivator or chelating agent;', 'at least one antioxidant of a hindered phenol type (alkylphenol);', 'at least one dispersant and/or detergent; and', 'at least one metal passivator., 'a minority part comprising at least one additive composition comprising2. The liquid fuel composition of the gas oil type according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one additive composition is incorporated in quantities ranging from 50 to 1500 ppm by mass.5. Substantially linear ethylene polymers, such as ethylene/octene copolymers and ethylene/propylene/diene modified polymers, when added in a viscosity modifying amount to an oleaginous material, such as a lubricating oil, provides the material with a viscosity index that exceeds that of the material alone. The substantially linear ethylene polymers, prepared by constrained geometry catalysis, may be grafted with one or more unsaturated organic compounds, such as maleic anhydride, that contain ethylenic unsaturation. The grafted polymer may be further functionalized by reactions with, for example, an alcohol or an amine compound. The substantially linear ethylene polymers, when subjected to shearing action either before or after addition to an oleaginous material, improve shear stability of the oleaginous material. The substantially li near ethylene polymers, whether grafted, grafted and further reacted or not, also work as a thickening agent for compositions such as those used in greases, cable filling coumpounds and cosmetics. In addition, the substantially linear ethylene polymers provide effective results when blended with other components of conventional oleaginous material compositions.

Polymerisation of alpha-olefins C 6 -C 14 is carried out in medium of a monomer with addition of saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon composition C 6 -C 14 with monomer conversion 96.0-99.5 wt%. Catalyst used is microspherical titanium trichloride, catalyst activator used is a mixture with weight ratio from 1:10 to 10:1 diethylaluminium chloride and triisobutylaluminium. Polymer is obtained, having molecular weight higher than 10 7 amu with narrow molecular weight distribution of not more than 1.5 with a given ratio of components, wt%. Further, polymer is milled to produce a commercial form of reagent. Drag reducers having larger particle sizes dissolve more slowly than drag reducers having smaller particle sizes, and vice versa. By using at least bi-modal particle size distributions, the drag reduction effect may be distributed more uniformly over the length of the pipeline where smaller sized particles dissolve sooner after injection (upstream in the pipeline), and larger sized particles dissolve later (further along the pipeline). Drag reducer suspensions with bi- or multimodal particle size distributions may be made by suspension polymerization.

Ethylene-alkyne copolymers and ethylene-alkyne-alkene terpolymers. The copolymers and terpolymers have a number-average molecular weight, determined by vapor phase osmometry, of from 500 to 500,000 and contain, as copolymerized units, (A) from 70 to 99 percent by weight of ethylene and (B) an acetylenically unsaturated compound of the formula (I) H--C.tbd.C--R.sup.1 I where R 1 is (OCH 2 CH 2 ) n H or CH 2 -R 2 , n is 1-20, R 2 is -OH, -OCOR 3 or -COOR 3 and R 3 is straight-chain or branched C 1 -C 10 -alkyl. The terpolymers contain, as copolymerized units, from 50 to 99 percent by weight of (A), from 0.5 to 30 percent by weight of (B) and, in addition, (C) from 0.5 to 49.5 percent by weight of an olefinically unsaturated ester of the formula (II) ##STR1## where R 4 is H or CH 3 , R 5 is -OOC-R 6 or -COOR 6 and R 6 is straight-chain or branched C 1 -C 10 -alkyl. The copolymers and terpolymers are prepared in a continuous or batchwise polymerixation system at from 150° to 350° C. under a pressure of from 500 to 3,000 bar in the presence of from 200 to 4,000 mole ppm, based on monomers, of an organic peroxide which decomposes into free radicals. The copolymers and terpolymers can be used as additives to petroleum distillates.

Embodiments of the present invention are directed toward systems and methods of providing a low-emissions diesel fuel for use in cold climates. Such fuels may be prepared by a Fischer-Tropsch process and include a pour point depressant. Furthermore, the fuel is used in conjunction with a heated fuel delivery system so that low cloud points are not necessary. Fuels prepared according to embodiments of the present invention may be produced in higher yields than otherwise possible because a higher paraffin wax content can be tolerated, thus obviating the need to remove or exclude the wax. These fuels are characterized by a sulfur content less than 1 ppm, a cetane number greater than 60, an aromatics content less than 1 wt %, and a difference between the cloud and pour points that is greater than about 5° C. The present fuel may be prepared by a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis from any number of carbon-containing sources such natural gas, coal, petroleum products, and combinations thereof.

A further subject of the disclosure is the synthesis method and the uses of these polymers.

FIELD: chemistry.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a copolymer, a method for production thereof, use thereof, as well as to an oil fuel containing such a copolymer. Method of producing copolymer involves polymerising at least one maleic acid or derivatives thereof (A), at least one α-olefin, having at least 6 to inclusive 20 carbon atoms (B), at least one of C- up to C-alkyl ether of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid or a mixture of such alkyl esters (C) and optionally one or more additional copolymerisable monomers (D). Monomers (D) differ from monomers (A), (B) and (C). Polymerisation is carried out in solution at temperature from 50 to 250 °C in continuous mode. Further, reacting with at least one dialkylamine (E), wherein two alkyl radicals of at least one dialkylamine (E) are independently alkyl radicals having at least 17 to 30 carbon atoms. Dialkylamine used is di-n-octadecylamine, di-n-nonadecylamine or di-n-eicosylamine. Molar ratio of dialkylamine (E) and maleic acid or its derivative (A) in the copolymer is at least 1.2:1 and up to 2.0:1. Copolymer is used to reduce crystallisation of paraffin crystals in fuels, to improve flow properties at low temperature of oil fuels and to improve filtrability of oil fuels containing additives for improving fluidity at low temperatures. Oil fuel contains from 10 to 5,000 wt. parts per million of at least one said copolymer and optionally an additive.
