Slat for a blind and blind formed therefrom

Номер: AU2017300883A1
Принадлежит: Churchill Attorneys

THIS invention relates to a slat for a blind and a blind formed from such slats. More specifically, the invention relates to a customisable rigid slat, or blind made up of a plurality of such customisable rigid slats, that enables the blind to be fitted snugly within any window opening or doorway as a result of the locking adjustability of the width of such slats. The slat includes a pair of elongate slat panels movable relative to one another between retracted and extended conditions, such that the operatively width of the slat is greater in the extended condition than in the retracted condition. The slat further includes one or more fasteners, located at or near each of a pair of minor ends of the slat panels, for releasably fixing the pair of slat panels to one another in the retracted condition, the extended condition and/or any condition there between, thereby to operatively restrict relative movement between the slat panels in such condition.

RADIANT ENERGY REFLECTOR DEVICE

Номер: CA1127896A
Принадлежит: BOYD MICHAEL D, BOYD, MICHAEL D.

TITLE RADIANT ENERGY REFLECTING STRUCTURES Radiant energy reflecting structures are described which are elongate and which have a plurality of reflecting elements on or in their surface. Each reflecting element has a "major axis" of reflection (the term "major axis" is defined in this specification) and a feature of the reflecting structures is that the direction of the "major axis" varies progressively with the transverse position of a reflecting element on the structure. The reflecting surfaces of the reflecting elements may be formed as corrugated, elongate, planar reflectors. Alternatively they may be formed as a known form of retro-reflective surface construction. Preferably, the reflecting surfaces are overlaid with a transparent medium. The structures may be used to construct louvred radiant energy screens.

Принадлежит: EDAK AG

The closure mechanism for windows, or other openings in walls, esp in banks and other buildings requiring max. security as well as screening from the sun consists of metal strips, made of steel plate, set at fixed intervals and able to swing on a common mounting. Adjacent slats overlap each other like roof tiles when in the closed position. In this position they combine to form a double, or multi-walled piece of armour, with the walls running at an interval from each other at least where there are only two of them. Each slat may comprise two outwardly curved plates (2), with longitudinal edges one on top of the other, to provide fourfold thickness when closed. The slats (1) are pref. symmetrical relative to a transverse plane through their axis of rotation (a).

The convex front wall (1), exposed to solar radiation, of the hollow lamellar body consists of translucent material. The likewise convex rear wall (2) insulated against outwardly directed heat discharge is opaque and designed such that it reflects inwards. Through the inner space of the hollow lamellar body there extend tubes (6, 13) which are connected to one another and through which water flows. Inlet and outlet for the water are formed by coaxial tubular parts (9, 6) which, for their part, open into the hollow body coaxially to the axis (7) of the pivot pins of the pivotably mounted lamella, at one end side thereof. Sunlight entering through the front wall (1) heats the water flowing through the tubes and the heat from this water can be discharged again outside the lamella, e.g. for heating purposes or for heating up service water. The incident heat cannot thus heat up the lamella in an undesired manner and radiate into the room, but can be used to good effect. ...

VARIABLE CONFIGURATION BLINDS

Номер: US20160069132A1
Принадлежит: DIAMOND VIEW TECHNOLOGY, LLC

A slatted horizontal blinds system has separate positional controls for distinct subsets of slats. Odd and even slats can be moved relative to each other both horizontally and vertically. With a scalloped upper and lower edge, overlapping slats can produce a variety of light allowing and esthetic modes. Some versions only support up and down movement and some slats are rectangular. This is caused by hiding and exposing of slat portions and voids between slats by the relative movement of odd and even slats. Slats may have translucent colored portions, apertures or printed designs. The absolute movement may only be of one subset of slats while other slats stay in position. In other cases all slats can move simultaneously in relation to each other. Mechanisms include screw drive with “lost motion” operation and movement latches. Also slidable carriages, end-cams, and linear motors can be used. In some cases the bottom rail has mechanisms as well as the head rail. 1. We disclose a window blind that includes a capacitor within each slat. Each plate of the capacitor may be connected to one of two batteries. At least one switch may be placed between each capacitor plate and its adjoining battery. When one switch is open, another switch may be closed thereby sending current to only one plate at a time. The plate that receives the current is negatively charged and the remaining plate is positively charged. The switch that is open may be changed to reverse the charges of the plates. This charge reversal may be actuated through a series of pull cord gestures from a user. By creating an electrical charge on the plates, dust is pulled from the air according to the net charge of the dust particles. The window blind therefore functions as an air purifier as well as a traditional window blind. 1. A window blind comprising:a headrail; a first plate and a second plate; and', 'a dielectric medium disposed between the first and second plates;, 'a capacitor, the capacitor comprising, 'a plurality of slats, each of the plurality of slats comprisinga first switch and a second switch, and an anode and a cathode,', 'wherein the first switch lies along an electrical connection which electrically connects the anode of the first battery to the first plate when the first switch is in a first position, and', 'wherein the second switch lies along an electrical connection which electrically connects the anode of the second battery to the second plate when the second switch is in a second position., 'a first battery and a second battery, each comprising2.
