A resilient clip 1 made from a resiliently deformable material takes the form of a split ring having a gap 6. Each end of the split ring is provided with a tab 9 and hole 10 having a ratchet mechanism 12 to provide non-releasable closure. Further embodiments have a through hole arrangement (Fig.3) to allow release of the closure by twisting the ring. The ring is further characterised by being provided with levers 13, 13' to enable a user to bring the gap faces together. In a further embodiment there is provided two or more such rings releasably or permanently fastened together to attach to more than one article. In another embodiment the ring may comprise an annular slot (20) which makes the ring easier to close by hand and improve the grip or to trap an item within, so that the clip can be fastened to an object upon which the item is to be carried.

In order to permit a hose to be mounted to other structure using mounting fixtures of two different types, namely ones where the anti-rotation notches in the fixture opening are on a bulged part of the plate, and others where the plate is planar including where the anti-rotation notches are provided, the tubular member of the holder is provided with two axially adjoining flanges, with the anti-rotation lugs extending on both of these flanges. In use, the first flange abuts one face of the fixture and the second flange is surrounded by at least part of the periphery of the plate opening when either type of fixture is used. When the first type of fixture is used the lug portions on the first flange engage in the anti-rotation notches, but when the second type of fixture is used, the lug portions of the second flange engage in the anti-rotation notches. Therefore, only one type of hose holder needs to be stocked, regardless of which of the two types of mounting fixture is to be used.

A pipe attachment assembly for attaching a pipe to another structure so stresses are reduced within the assembly includes a sleeve positioned outside the pipe which is composed of a material stronger than the pipe material, and an elastomeric bonding material which fills a gap between the pipe and the sleeve. The elastomeric bonding material transfers forces which are externally imposed on the pipe to the sleeve. This reduces bending, compression, tension, or torsion of the pipe in response to external forces, which in turn reduces the risk of a pipe failure at or near the termination or a breach where the pipe forms a joint with other pipes or containers. Various configurations may further improve the transfer of shearing stresses from the pipe to the sleeve, for example varying the width and/or the shear modulus of the elastomeric bonding material along the length of the pipe.

A cable retaining apparatus, or trefoil cleat, for retaining three power cables is disclosed. Two halves of the cleat are hinged together and between them engage the three cables. There is also a clamping portion for pulling the two halves together which includes a clamping member at the non-hinged end of each half. The system has a vent screen along a bottom side of the outer skin and a gable running along the top side of the outer skin, the gable having a number of openings therethrough to allow air to flow in through the vent screen, through the annular chamber and out through the gable openings, drawing moisture from the insulation thereby preventing corrosion of the pipe or pipeline. 1. A ventilation system for insulated pipe , the system comprising:a) an outer skin circumferentially disposed around the insulated pipe, thereby forming an annular chamber between the insulated pipe and the outer skin;b) a plurality of stand-off supports disposed between the insulated pipe and the outer skin in the annular chamber;c) a gable disposed on an upper side or portion of the outer skin, the gable disposed at least partially along a length of the outer skin, and wherein the gable further comprises a plurality of openings therealong to provide communication between the annular chamber and an exterior of the system;and d) a vent opening disposed at least partially along a lower side or portion of the length of the outer skin.2. The system as set forth in claim 1 , wherein the gable comprises at least one soffit disposed therealong wherein the plurality of openings is disposed through the at least one soffit.3. The system as set forth in claim 1 , further comprising a gable support disposed between the insulated pipe and the gable.4. Disclosed is a method and system for supporting a pipeline in a trench. The disclosure is directed to the placement of urea-silicate sprayable or pumpable foams into trenches to provide pipeline pillow supports during placement of the pipeline and to form trench breakers in the trench prior to the trench being backfilled. The pillow supports and trench breakers inhibit erosion of the trench prior to and after being backfilled. The urea-silicate foam material has an open cell content of at least 50% to resist floatation, is non-flammable and electrically conductive. Also disclosed is use of supports for placement between the urea-silicate foam and the bottom of the trench to aid in utilization of the urea-silicate foams in cold weather conditions and in trenches with steeply sloped bottoms. Preferably the supports are biodegradable and electrically conductive when wet. 1. A method for supporting a pipe in a trench comprising the steps of:a) providing, separately, a component A and a component B, wherein component A comprises at least 23% by weight of alkali silicate and a catalyst and component B comprises at least 75% by weight of at least one polyisocyanate and a block copolymer according to general formula I, based on the total weight of component A and component B, respectively;b) combining component A with component B thereby forming a urea-silicate foam material;c) depositing the urea-silicate foam material into the trench and allowing it to foam and cure thereby forming a urea-silicate foam pillow; andd) placing a pipe into the trench with a portion of the pipe in contact with the foam pillow.2.
