A chemically activated lighting system is provided which serves to clearly mark an exit door or hatch as an emergency escape route. The system utilizes two chemical agents which when mixed together form a compound which radiates light. The agents are stored in a container (2) which defines separate chambers (8, 9) for each agent. When the system is activated, the volume of each chamber is reduced, thereby forcing each agent into a mixing chamber (4 5) where they are combined. The compound is then passed through a transparent conduit which is formed around the escape exit.

An illuminated tire valve cap includes one or more loops or sockets for removably receiving a corresponding number of small, chemiluminescent rod(s) therein. The chemiluminescent element(s) is/are separably replaceable from the valve cap, thereby allowing retention of the cap for further use when spent chemiluminescent elements have been removed. The chemiluminescent element retaining loop(s) may be provided across the top or along the side(s) of the valve cap, at any practicable orientation desired. The present illuminated valve cap "dresses up" the appearance of a vehicle wheel (automobile, truck, motorcycle, bicycle, etc.) without requiring relatively fragile, heavy electrically powered systems, which would unbalance the wheel and tire assembly and which would not provide the desired reliability. The present illuminated valve cap is also valuable in locating the cap at night or in poor lighting, for checking tire pressure and other tire maintenance tasks.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of a non-emission zone and emit light securely and comfortably in a uniform condition by installing a bubble catching means in a translucent resin container body enclosing a solution to generate a chemical luminescence reaction and thereby blocking the movement of bubbles toward one side. SOLUTION: A body 2a of a translucent resin container 2 is filled with a first solution 4, and an ampul 3 in which a second solution 5 is stored is inserted into it and the container is held with the end of its one side 2b oriented downward. A fitted-in body 7 is arranged in the first solution 4 through an opening of the other side 2c of the container body 2a. A through hole 7b having a predetermined diameter is bored in a partitioning body 7a to partition the first solution 4 of the fitted-in body 7. Bubbles 6 in the first solution 4 are moved from the through hole 7b to the side of a lid 8 to remove them by vibrating the container body 2a with a finger or ...

Illuminated tire valve cap

Номер: US20020163792A1
Автор: Vincent Formoso
Принадлежит: Individual

An illuminated tire valve cap includes one or more loops or sockets for removably receiving a corresponding number of small, chemiluminescent rod(s) therein. The chemiluminescent element(s) is/are separably replaceable from the valve cap, thereby allowing retention of the cap for further use when spent chemiluminescent elements have been removed. The chemiluminescent element retaining loop(s) may be provided across the top or along the side(s) of the valve cap, at any practicable orientation desired. The present illuminated valve cap “dresses up” the appearance of a vehicle wheel (automobile, truck, motorcycle, bicycle, etc.) without requiring relatively fragile, heavy electrically powered systems, which would unbalance the wheel and tire assembly and which would not provide the desired reliability. The present illuminated valve cap is also valuable in locating the cap at night or in poor lighting, for checking tire pressure and other tire maintenance tasks.

An inner container (1) filled with a luminescent chemical (5) is placed within an outer container (2) filled with a luminescent chemical (6), which are together placed in a case (3) sealed with an outer cap (12). When the outer cap is pressed down, the inner container is made to communicate with the outer container. When establishing communication between the containers, if the case is shaken, the two kinds of luminescent chemicals mix with each other to emit luminescence. When the outer cap is pressed down a pressing block (21) of the outer container is moved down in a tube (111) of the inner container and breaks open a film (112) sealed in the bottom of the tube. Breaking of the film lets the inner and outer container communicate with each other.

31,712-00 TITLE OF THE INVENTION CHEMILUMINESCENT LIGHTING ELEMENT ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to a chemiluminescent device, which comprises a tube made of a flexible, light-transmitting and chemically stable material, closed at both of its ends, and which comprises at least two compartments which are filled with liquids which produce chemiluminescent light when mixed. The tube contains, between the ends, an internal diaphragm or disk, which separates the tube into said compartments. The diaphragm or disk has approximately a flat circular shape, with a cross-section which is approximately rectangular in profile, and is placed transversely with respect to the axis of the tube. The edge is in continuous contact with the interior of the wall of the tube. The elasticity, the external diameters and the internal diameters of the tube and, the diameter and the thickness of the diaphragm are selected in such a manner that the diaphragm can be tilted by simple manual pressure against the external walls of the tube, which pressure imparts a tilting torque to said diaphragm or disk and allows mixing of the contents of the compartments. The closure at both ends is a fusion of the side walls of the tube and each comprises an area lying in a substantially flat plane. The tube has a Stiffness Modulus of less than about 700 mPa and a Tensile Strength greater than about 15 mPa.

Chemiluminescent packaging

Номер: EP0980906A2
Принадлежит: Omniglow Corp

An improved package for securing a chemiluminescent lighting device (10) in a storage condition consists of a heat-shrinkable opaque jacket (42) which protects the chemiluminescent chemicals from degradation by light while simultaneously providing rigidity to the device by use of a PVC film or the like thermo-wrap-plastic capable of blocking light and adhering to the outer shape of the chemiluminescent lighting device (10). Due to the extremely tight fit of the material (42) around the lighting device coupled with the presence of a score line (44) included in the wrap material (42), a fracture zone is created such that any impact or flexing sufficient to cause admixture of the chemiluminescent components will, in turn, cause the wrapping material (42) to break at the score line (44) and be instantaneously shed. This feature allows the user to readily activate and unwrap the material (42) in one quick and easy motion while acting as an indicator that the lighting device (10) has been activated.
