The inner housing comprises two halves, and its upper inner space and lower inner space are used to accommodate the ejection unit, trigger unit, transmission unit, and bullet-feeding unit respectively. The two halves of the housing are respectively equipped with a plurality of opposite and matched horizontal protuberant long blocks and concaved long grooves on the joining sidewalls of the upper inner space. Especially, at the front end of the upper inner space of the inner housing where the piston cylinder of the ejection unit is accommodated, the joining sidewalls of the two half-housings have the joining structure with the protuberant long blocks inserted and engaged into the concaved long grooves. By this way, the structural strength on the area is increased so as to avoid the structural damage caused by the impact force of the piston in the cylinder; thus, the life of the inner housing can be increased.

Several embodiments of toy dart launch apparatus are disclosed including two crossbows with stretchable cords, a spring driven apparatus and an apparatus with battery operated rotatable wheels. Each apparatus includes an open top drum for receiving and storing darts. The darts are tubular and formed of soft foam. The drum includes an open outer surface with spaced recesses so that loaded darts are exposed, the darts being received by a spike in each recess. The recesses also include protrusions for restraining the stored darts on the spike, and a platform is mounted in the crossbows to support each dart when the released stretched cord impacts the dart. In the case of a rotating wheel arrangement, there is no need for spikes on drum or a platform.

The present invention is a toy projectile and launcher system. The lightweight projectile has an exterior surface symmetrically disposed about an imaginary longitudinal axis. The launcher has planar leaves or holding pins, for receiving and holding the projectile. Within the launcher is a spring-loaded element that moves between cocked and released positions. The spring-loaded element contacts a first planar leaf or a first holding pin as the spring-loaded element moves from cocked to released position. Contact with the spring-loaded element causes the leaves or pins to pinch the projectile and launch the projectile into flight in a direction perpendicular to its longitudinal axis. In an alternate embodiment, rotational and linear velocities are imparted to a projectile by action of a ribbon held against the projectile's exterior surface by parallel members. Contact with the spring-loaded element causes the ribbon to translate along the length of said parallel members and into flight. 1. In operation, a user pulls a handle rearward to move the ram and carriage and extend the spring. Pulling the trigger disengages the ram to impact the lever causing the lever to slap the ball to cause discharge of the ball. The lever and the shaft may be moved from side to side to cause the ball to be discharged straight ahead or curved to the left or right.

A toy launcher apparatus for discharging circular projectiles, the apparatus having a housing, lower and upper panels mounted to the housing, supports mounted to the housing, a cocking slide and a slide spring connected to the supports, a projectile receptacle connected to the cocking slide, release levers mounted to the housing, a guide wall mounted to the lower panel, a positioning wheel also mounted to the lower panel, and a trigger mounted to the housing. The lower panel includes a slot positioned parallel to the guide wall but off center relative to a center point of a load projectile. Beneath the lower panel is a rotatable launch arm connected to a torsion spring and a catch structure. The upper and lower panels are parallel to one another and spaced to receive a projectile. The projectile is loaded into the projectile receptacle when the receptacle is exposed during the time the launch arm and torsion spring are cocked by a user pulling rearward on the cocking slide. The launch arm is captured by the catch structure, and the cocking slide and the receptacle are also captured. After loading the projectile, the one of the release levers is activated to snap the cocking slide, the carriage and the loaded projectile to a predetermined launch position. When a user pulls the trigger the launch arm is rapidly rotated by the torsion spring through the slot where the launch arm impacts the loaded and correctly positioned projectile and causes the projectile to be discharge with a spin.

As the bottle cap exits from the barrel of the gun, a wall mounted rib imparts an additional spinning force to the bottle cap. The trigger of the pistol has a portion for engaging and holding an inside surface of the peripheral wall of the projectile in the firing chamber. When the trigger is actuated the portion engaging the projectile will pivot away and permit the spring biased plunger to engage and propel the projectile.

BRITAINS Ltd 8 April 1975 [9 April 1974] 15735/74 Heading A6S A toy gun, &c. comprises a breech-loading member which is normally biassed into a position preventing a firing member from striking a projectile loaded through the gun, &c. muzzle. As shown, a breech-loading member 9, Figs. 2, 6a is gravity biassed so that when a spring-urged firing pin 5 is pulled back to its cocked position, Fig. 3, and turned to latch its arm 5a in a recess 11 of the gun block, the breech-loading member falls to obstruct a passage 10. Thus if the firing pin 5 is released, it merely latches into a recess 20, Fig. 3 in the breech-loading member 9; accordingly if a projectile has been loaded into the muzzle 2 of the gun, it is not ejected. To load the gun, the breech-loading member 9 is raised from the Fig. 3 -to the Fig. 4 position. A simulated shell 15 is inserted via a groove 19 in the gun body through a keyhole slot 12, Fig. 6a in the breech-loading member 9 to the position shown in hatched lines, Fig. 4. The breech-loading member 9 is then released and falls to the position shown in Fig. 5. The firing pin 5 may now be twisted to its release position, its compressed spring 7 forcing the firing pin arm 5a forward to strike the shell 15, which as ejected through the muzzle 2, the firing pin arm 5a -entering the breech loading member keyhole slot 12 and returning to the Fig. 2 position. Instead of being gravity biassed, the breech loading member 9 can be spring biassed. A groove-22 at the bottom of the gun breech is so dimensioned that a shell, &c of less diameter than a desired safety limit will fall into it and then cannot be fired.

Pistols.-The pistol comprises a. barrel 1 having a plunger 9 and a concentric body 4, the space between the 'barrel and body forming a housing for the plunger-spring 6 which is secured at its forward end between the flanges of the barrel and body and formed at its other end with an extension 11 which passes through the plunger. The plunger is retracted to its firing-position against the spring by means of a pin 15 parsing through the plunger and through slots in the barrel and body. The pin is locked in position by a lever 17 pivoted within the barrel and engaging with the spring-pressed trigger 22. Pressure on the trigger releases the lever and the plunger. Projectiles of different sizes are held in the barrel by the spring 25.

An elastic band projectile slinger has an elongated base forming an elongated projectile guide track along its length. A pivoted support plate on the front end of the base anchors a pair of elongated elastic bands which are stretchable to a releasable latch adjacent the rear end of the base. Release of the latch is controlled by a finger-operated trigger. An elongated arrow projectile is positionable in the guide track with the rear nock end of the arrow engaging a cord joining the rear ends of the elastic bands. The front end of the arrow has a point member of magnetically susceptible material and is secured in the guide track by a magnet mounted on the base. When the trigger is operated to release the latch, the contraction of the elastic bands moves the latch rapidly forward, releasing the elastic bands to contract in the forward direction and carry the arrow forwardly therewith. As the contracting bands move forwardly beyond the front end of the base, the support plate pivots forwardly and downwardly in front of the base to afford maximum extension of the bands and maximum thrust to the arrow.

At a first rearward position of the slide the carrier is restrained in a cocked configuration. On the way to a second rearward position of the slide, the slide, slide link and carriage lock disengage from the carriage, launch arm and launch spring. When the carriage and launch arm are triggered, the launch spring releases and the launch arm impacts the inner wall of the projectile for discharge.
