The flexure assembly includes magnets and a number of flexure rings which allow for movement of the magnets about a fixed circuit board. Sensors in the circuit board sense changes in the magnetic field as the magnets move in relation to the circuit board. The magnetic field changes produce a voltage output which is used by a processor to generate weight calculations. The top of the flexure assembly is attached to the interior of the dialysis machine. The entirety of the reservoir unit is suspended by a first internal frame that is attached to the bottom of the flexure assembly. Having a single flexure assembly positioned above the reservoir unit provides more accurate weight measurements while also preventing damage to the assembly from water spillage.

In a first embodiment of the invention, the material handling apparatus includes a first structure for carrying a load, a second structure from which said first structure is suspended, with one of the structures including an elongated force-transmitting member having a longitudinal axis. A load member has a central portion which engages a portion of the force-transmitting member and the load member also has opposite end portions which engage the other of the structures. The load member is mounted such that the first structure applies a force thereto in proportion to the load in one direction to either the central portion or the end portions of the load member, while the second structure applies a force to the other of the central portion or the end portions. Means are provided for measuring the strain introduced into said load member due to the application of said forces applied thereto.

Previous methods of testing crane load capacity often require significant time to configure and reconfigure the apparatus. The system of the present invention increases efficiency by significantly reducing this configuration time. The system comprises a plurality of stackable test weights, and a lifting fixture specifically designed for the system. A cantilever structure located on two opposing sides of the test weight enables the lifting fixture to first be quickly secured underneath of said structure, and then lift that particular unit as well as any units surmounting that unit. A novel block lock system integrated into each weight unit enables self-alignment and securing of each weight as it is placed onto the weight stack.

The flexure assembly includes magnets and a number of flexure rings which allow for movement of the magnets about a fixed circuit board. Sensors in the circuit board sense changes in the magnetic field as the magnets move in relation to the circuit board. The magnetic field changes produce a voltage output which is used by a processor to generate weight calculations. The top of the flexure assembly is attached to the interior of the dialysis machine. The entirety of the reservoir unit is suspended by a first internal frame that is attached to the bottom of the flexure assembly. Having a single flexure assembly positioned above the reservoir unit provides more accurate weight measurements while also preventing damage to the assembly from water spillage. 1. A load weighing device is provided to determine the magnitude of a load carried by a material handling device such as a lifting crane, hook block arrangement, or the like. The weighing device is designed to be incorporated into existing material handling apparatus and to accurately measure the magnitude of any load being handled by the apparatus while minimizing the likelihood of extraneous forces from introducing erroneous measurements (unrelated to the load) into the weighing system. In a first embodiment of the invention, the material handling apparatus includes a first structure for carrying a load, a second structure from which said first structure is suspended, with one of the structures including an elongated force-transmitting member having a longitudinal axis. A load member has a central portion which engages a portion of the force-transmitting member and the load member also has opposite end portions which engage the other of the structures. The load member is mounted such that the first structure applies a force thereto in proportion to the load in one direction to either the central portion or the end portions of the load member, while the second structue applies a force to the other of the central portion or the end portions. Means are provided for measuring the strain introduced into said load member due to the application of said forces applied thereto.

Apparatus fitted to cranes.-Relates to a combined hoisting and weighing device of the kind in which after the load has been raised to a certain extent it is automatically shifted from the hoisting cable to a weighing cable, and after the weighing has been effected, is shifted back to the hoisting cable, and consists in that the load so acts upon the gripping-levers during weighing as to cause them to swing open upon the lifting of the load. The hoisting wire 3 at its free end is attached to a ring 30 slidable within the tubular shank 31 of a goods hook 6. Projecting from the upper end of the shank 31 is a conical member 14, which on its underside is provided with a collar 33 adapted to co-operate with two semi-cylindrical collars 20, 20<1> formed on the inner ends of two levers 19, 19<1>. A casing 15 suspended from the weighing wire (not shown) is provided with two transverse shafts 17, 17'. Two arms 18, 18' are freely pivoted on the shafts 17, 17' and carry at their lower ends the levers 19, 19<1>. The shafts 17, 17<1> are provided at their ends with cranks 24, 24<1> between which two springs 25 are stretched, the springs normally causing projections 23, Fig. 5, to bear on the arms 18, 18<1> and thereby tending to draw the arms together. In use, the hook is raised by the hoisting wire into the position shown in Fig. 2, it is then lowered until it is supported on the collars 20. 20<1> and a weighment is made. The load is applied to a lever (3), representing the cabin load or a fraction of it, applied to one end. Part of the force applied is transmitted to the other end of the lever (3), by a set transformation relationship and is applied to a deformable element (17) having a fibre optic connection (19). This fibre optic (19) is subjected to local micro-deformations over a radius of curvature below its elastic rupture step value with an amplitude related to the load applied. A light source (35) is arranged at one of the fibre optics ends and a light detector (37) is arranged at the other end, which measures as output the transmitted amplitude of the light beam in the deformation zone. An electronic measuring unit (39,41,43), compares and converts the amplitude of the light beam emitted and transmitted to each of the fibre ends and then processes the signals after conversion so as to determine the light attenuation caused by the fibre optic deformation from which the force applied to the lever is calculated.

An upper crossbeam together with vertically extending supports and a lower crossbeam forms a support frame suspended at traction cables and moves within an elevator shaft along suitable guide rails. A floor frame mounted on isolation pads at the lower crossbeam carries the elevator car. At the roof of the elevator car there is centrally arranged a reference plate member which is part of the load measuring apparatus. A proximity sensor centrally arranged at the upper crossbeam has a predetermined frontal spacing from the reference plate member in the no-load condition of the elevator car. When the elevator car carries a load this predetermine frontal spacing increases as a function of compression of the isolation pads. The proximity sensor then generates an electrical signal or potential which is dependent upon the momentarily prevailing frontal spacing from the reference plate member.

In addition, they can be configured as bending springs and/or can support lower and upper edges. In the first case, the ridges (2, 4) take on the bulk of the bending work and, in the second case, they transmit pure forces.
