A method of stripping films which are stuck together without damage is disclosed. The whole reel of films which are stuck together is placed in a sealing device with outlet valves. Liquid nitrogen is added at a bottom of the sealing device. The films are stripped off by a flow of gas through gaps between the layers of the films while the vaporization of liquid nitrogen. The present invention adopts a natural force of liquid nitrogen vaporization to strip the films, which does not compromise the PH value, the dimensional performance and the mechanical performance of the films. The films are in stripped off without damage. The conventional method of stripping the films causes the fragile film to break off or the image layer with a decreased combing power to detach. The present invention has the advantages of simple operation, low cost and good promotion value.

The present invention integrates micro-restoration, bubble puncture and optical filling, and effectively restores a bubble having a diameter of 0.1 mm to 1 mm generated between a film base layer and an emulsion layer of a cine film. The present invention has advantages of simple method of operation, low cost and good controllability. And the used restoration solution has good thermal stability, oxidation resistance, and permeability, and can eliminate the phenomenon of light scattering within the bubble, so that patterns and writing of the original image data are explicitly presented, and a better restoration effect is achieved without damages to films. Therefore, the restoration solution has good application values and market prospects.

Radiation-curable compositions useful for restorative and/or protective treatment of photographic elements are comprised of a polymerizable epoxy compound, a cationic initiator for initiating polymerization of the epoxy compound, a polymerizable acrylic compound, a haloalkylated aromatic ketone which serves as a free-radical initiator for initiating polymerization of the acrylic compound, and a polymerizable organofunctional silane. Photographic elements, such as still films, motion picture films, paper prints, microfiche, and the like, are provided with a protective overcoat layer which is permanently bonded to the element, and serves to protect it from abrasion and scratches, by coating the element with the radiation-curable composition and irradiating the coating to bond it to the element and cure it to form a transparent, flexible, scratch-resistant, cross-linked polymeric layer. The protective overcoat layer can be applied to the image-bearing side of the element or to the support side of the element or to both sides. The radiation-curable composition can also be used as a restorative composition in the treatment of photographic elements which have scratches, abrasion marks, and the like, which impair the appearance or projection capabilities of the element. In use as a restorative composition, the radiation-curable composition can be applied locally in the region of the defects only, to effectively eliminate them and restore the element to a substantially defect-free condition, or it can be applied over the entire surface of the element to both eliminate the defects and form a protective overcoat layer that is capable of providing protection against subsequent scratching or abrasion.

Presses.-A device for joining kinematograph films comprises a table 1, shown in plan, recessed at 2 to accommodate overlapping films which are positioned by pins 3, a roller 4 carried by an arm 5 adapted to be swung about a vertical pivot 6, and a clamping-plate 12 to hold the ends of the films while the cement is drying. Stops 8 limit the movement of the roller 4 which, in the position shown, serves to hold one film while the other is being adjusted. The clamping-plate 12 is connected to a lever 10 by pins 14 and is controlled by a spring 17. The lever 10 is frictionally secured to a bar 11 having reduced ends 18 which serve as pivots and are clamped in uprights 19. A spring arranged beneath the table is connected by a rod to the lever 10 so as to tend to keep this raised. When the lever 10 is depressed it is kept down by a catch 26, which is released automatically by the arm 5 when this is swung to remove the roller from the film.

The slides are assembled by clamping between two sets of narrow strips (3, 5) of material to form a chain. The strips are fitted with a contact adhesive in the spaces between the slides so that a simple machine assembly of the chain is possible. The slides are held at the top and bottom edges. They can be fed through an automatic copying or projection equioment. The strips are simple enough to be fitted by machine.
