Techniques are provided herein that enable local fare processing for access control points (208) (entry gates, turnstiles, etc.) in a transit or similar system (100) that can detect fraudulent activity far more quickly than fare processing systems using traditional blacklists or whitelists-and even detecting fraudulent activity at a first occurrence. Embodiments take advantage of the relatively high communication speed and memory capacity of modem transit systems to generate a list of all applicable cards with usage data such as the time of last use, value, or other "one directional data," provide it to each access control point (208) in the system. The access control point (208), upon reading fare media, can then compare the data on the fare media to data on the list to determine whether fraud may be taking place. A ticket dispenser for dispensing lottery tickets and preventing any unauthorised delivery of said tickets comprises a container 1 provided with a lockable door 13 allowing access to the interior of the housing. The container houses a supply of tickets which are delivered from an orifice 3 in the door 13. A delivery means comprising a roller 4 and a fixed plate 11 are actuated via a device 8 which mates with an end 7 of the roller to allow rotation of the roller 4 in direction B, to deliver a ticket, or direction C to retract a ticket. The orifice may be provided with a cutting edge to assist in separating the delivered tickets. The roller 4 may be provided with rings 14 to grip the tickets and the container may be mounted on a base 2 or on another container by mating projections (9, figure 2) with slots 10, the stacked containers being locked together using fob 15 of lock 5.

A method for the replication of a textured surface of a master is disclosed, in which the textured surface of the master is comprised of micron-scale cones having nano- or micro-scale surface features. Alternatively, the master may be comprised of micron-scale structures, nano-scale structures, and micron scale structures having nano-scale surface features. Replication can be achieved through a molding or embossing technique. Using these technique, the textured surface of the master is faithfully replicated onto the surface of the replica. A number of representative materials and additional processing steps are also disclosed. The replicated texture exhibits many useful properties, including enhanced hydrophobicity and reduced light reflection properties, making the disclosed method a simple and attractive alternative to existing texturing techniques. 1. The pattern complexity and functional value of wrinkled structures can be substantially increased by fabricating the wrinkles on pre-patterned quasi-planar substrates instead of flat substrates. This disclosure presents the methods for fabricating pre-patterned polymeric surfaces that can be subsequently used as the substrates during manufacture of complex wrinkled structures. Pre-patterned substrates are generated by imprinting the pre-patterns onto the substrates during the curing process. A method of manufacturing a plate workpiece with surface microstructures is provided. Before press-molding, a preform is placed between a first mold with a pattern and a second mold, and is disposed on the second mold. Next, the first mold and the second mold are heated to a transition temperature of the preform, and then pressed against the preform to impress the pattern onto the preform to obtain a patterned preform. Finally, the patterned preform is cooled with the second mold and shrunk to obtain the plate workpiece with surface microstructures. Since the patterned preform is uniformly cooled from bottom to top by thermal conduction, the temperature field is isothermal in a horizontal distribution. Therefore, a plate workpiece with high accuracy surface microstructures is obtained, and is useful for carrying multiple optical fibers in optical communication. 1. A method of manufacturing a plate workpiece with surface microstructures , comprising the steps of: a first mold having a first surface and a pattern formed on the first surface of the first mold; and', 'a second mold facing to the first surface of the first mold;, '(A) providing a press-molding apparatus, having(B) placing a preform on the second mold and between the first mold and the second mold;(C) heating the first mold and the second mold to a temperature at which the preform is capable of being press-molded;(D) pressing the first mold and the second mold against the preform, thereby impressing the pattern of the first mold onto the preform to obtain a patterned preform; and(E) cooling the second mold and parting the patterned preform from the first mold, so as to obtain the plate workpiece with the surface microstructures.2. A method of forming micro-channels in a plastic surface using a pressing device includes structuring a micro-channel forming tool for the pressing device to include a press end including a press surface that extends along a plane and a micro-channel detail positioned on the press end and extending beyond the plane of the press surface. The micro-channel detail includes a non-critical portion and a critical portion supported by the non-critical portion. The press end of the micro-channel forming tool is driven into the plastic surface at a predetermined force using a pressing device. Ultrasonic vibrations are applied to the micro-channel forming tool for a predetermined amount of time to melt portions of the plastic surface in contact with the pressing surface. The ultrasonic vibrations are removed after the predetermined amount of time has elapsed and the press end is retracted from the plastic surface.
