The substantially non-contiguous, insular regions are formed on at least 5 percent and at most 60 percent of the area of the foil surface. In this way, the adhesive strength between the foil and the glass and therefore also the service life of the lamp are significantly improved.

When on rotation of crank 6 a pin 8 on a rod 7 disconnects from an arm 9 on the pivot 3 the potential energy of the arm 1 and cutter 4 is sufficient to sever the wire on the anvil 5. The cutter 4 may be driven by a spring or in a straight line. In a modification the anvil is moved to latch the arm 1 in operative position and a fixed stop trips a detent for releasing the arm. 본 발명은 복수의 공통전극을 가지는 다전극소자와 이를 제조하는데 적합한 방법을 개시한다. 평판표시소자는 일반적으로 두 기판으로 구성되는 바, 한 기판에 두 전극이 구비되는 경우는 전극패드를 양단으로 인출하여 접속시킬 수 있으나, 한 기판에 3 이상의 전극이 구비되면 별도의 분리회로가 필요하게 되어 소자의 설계 및 제조원가를 크게 상승시키는 문제가 있었다. 본 발명에서는 둘 이상의 공통전극을 기판의 한 측단으로 인출하여, 절연층에 의해 분리된 상태로 각각 접속 패턴에 의해 커먼접속함으로써 별도의 전용분리회로의 구비나 FPC의 사용없이 다전극소자의 접속이 가능하도록 하였다.

In one embodiment, distributed feedback lasers well suited for frequency modulation lightwave communication systems are designed to have an integrated feedback element such as a corrugation grating whose effective pitch is selected to cause the Bragg wavelength and, therefore, the laser operating wavelength to be longer than the wavelength at substantially the maximum gain or gain peak in the semiconductor structure without the grating. That is, the wavelength of the grating is effectively detuned toward the longer wavelength and lower energy side of the peak of the gain profile. Such detuning increases the linewidth enhancement factor in such a way that the nonuniform frequency modulation response and its effects are minimized and, in some cases, substantially eliminated.

Stamping ; spinning.-Apparatus for forming a lateral protuberance in a thin walled metal shell comprises a stud having one end proportioned to enter the shell, means for positioning a shell on to the end of the stud, a punch having a boss and operable within the stud to move the boss laterally against the wall of a shell positioned on the stud in order to form a protuberant in the wall and thereafter withdraw the boss, a die positioned exterior to the stud and means for advancing the die laterally towards the boss in order to shape the protuberant. The shells 1 are loaded into collet type chucks 11 which are mounted in the rim of an indexing turret 12 keyed to a shaft 13. Each chuck comprises an outer sleeve 15 within which is mounted a segmented spindle 16. The mating surfaces of the sleeve and spindle are flared outwardly at the upper end of the chuck whereby when the spindle is pulled down into the sleeve by the spring 17 the segments are pressed inward to grip the shell. Each chuck 11 registers with a stationary stud 18 carried in a block 19 attached to a plate 22 on the table 23 of the apparatus. The shell is lifted on to the lower end of the stud by raising the chuck by means of a reciprocating rod 24, one end of which carries a roller 27 which rides in a cam track 28 in a cam wheel 29. The stud 18 has a slot 31 carrying a pair of levers 32 pivoted on pins 33. The levers are provided with hardened bosses 34 and they are actuated by a double-acting wedge member 35 and a reciprocable spindle 36. ABSTRACT: A colour display tube comprising in an evacuated envelope a display screen and an electron gun system which has first means to generate three electron beams situated in one plane and second means to focus the elec-tron beams on the display screen, which second means com-prise at least two focusing electrodes which are common for the three electron beams and which have apertures for each electron beam. The centres of the apertures for the central electron beam being situated on the axis of the central electron beam, the centres of the apertures for the two outermost electron beams being situated at various distances from the axis of the central electron beam. The apertures for the three electron beams comprise collars, starting with the side of the first focusing electrode remote from the first means, taken in the forward direc-tion of the electron beams. It is possible to provide a construction of such an electron gun system having aper-tures for the outermost electron beams in the focusing electrodes which are staggered relative to each other, with which it is possible in a simple manner to assemble such electron gun systems accurately. Therefore the common focusing electrodes are provided at least on one side with slot-shaped apertures at the area of the collars of the apertures for at least one of the outer-most electron beams. As a result of said slot-shaped apertures the electron gun system can be accurately assembled in a simple manner.
