The apparatus may be integrated into a standard receptacle, or retrofitted to work with existing devices. In one embodiment, the clamping mechanism acts solely on the ground prong of a standard plug assembly, so that it is unnecessary to consider electrical potentials applied to the clamped prong in relation to the design of the clamping mechanism. Further, the withdrawing movement of the prongs of a plug may cause elongate clamping surfaces of the clamping mechanism to frictionally engage opposing surfaces of the clamped prong.

The general field of invention is electrical connectors and their conductor geometry. This patent teaches how to make the register-free charge couplers to have self-cleaning ability as well as tolerating operation under dirty environments such as underbelly of cars, while still delivering the requirements imposed by the register-free functionality. Although this invention can benefit many connector designs and applications, it is particularly beneficial when applied to hands free connectors for charging electric vehicles—also known in the industry as the Electric Vehicle Charge Couplers. The specific geometry taught in the patent satisfies the requirements of register-free connectors such as not to be able to short circuit supply conductors, provide at least one drain side conductor for every supply side conductor, permit easy sliding between supply and drain side conductors and provide at least one drain side contact with its centerline to overlap each supply side contact. Additional treads on the contacts provide self-cleaning ability without disturbing the register-free functionality by providing a path for loose dirt and oxides to escape, while the ridges between the grooves break the dirt into small pieces. The groove pitch is adjusted in relation to the sliding distance between the contacts such that every broken down piece of the dirt finds an escape path.

A coaxial probe is revealed. A protective sleeve is mounted in a sleeve port of a main sleeve. A leaning flange projecting inward is formed on a bottom end of a sleeve port of the main sleeve. The leaning flange is stopped and positioned by a stopping flange on an upper part of the protective sleeve. A probe is disposed on a sleeve port of the main sleeve and is passed through a sleeve port of a protective hole. Thus the probe is hidden in the protective sleeve. After the protective sleeve being in contact with a coaxial connector to be detected, the probe is moved to project from the protective sleeve for detecting the coaxial connector. Thereby damages of the probe caused by impact force received can be avoided.

An assembly that provides solderless electrical interconnection between two devices provided with electrical contact lands that are distributed in plane Land Grid Arrays (LGA's). One of the devices can be a package containing an electronic or opto-electronic device and the other device can be a PCB. The alignment of the lands of the LGA's is provided by guides that include a frame having vertical walls and centering pins inserted into metallized via-holes provided in the PCB, the dimensions of the frame allowing the sliding insertion and extraction of the package. Electrical connection between the lands of the two LGA's is provided by a contactor pad placed between the package and the PCB. The assembly includes a cover removably attached to the frame by a locking mechanism, the cover being provided with one or more elastic members which exert a downward force over the package compressing it against the contactor pad. 1.
