Inspection of encrypted network traffic where multiple network connections are monitored that carry encrypted data, but only a subset of the network connections are decrypted and inspected. Typically, only network connections that are associated with designated target users whose encrypted data is to be inspected are decrypted. A Network Monitor Center (NMC) dynamically establishes a list of rules for selection of encrypted data connections. The rules are provided to a Secure data Inspection Appliance (SIA) that accepts some or all of the network user encrypted traffic and checks it against a rule table. When detecting an encrypted connection that matches the rule table, the SIA decrypts the connection and provides a copy of the connection plain data to the NMC. The NMC then inspects the plain data for security threats. Once a security threat is found in a connection, the NMC applies predefined consequent actions to this connection.

A user equipment (UE) cell search involves tuning a demodulation frequency of the UE based on signals received from a first encountered cell and using a non-initial cell search procedure to continue searching for a cell that is qualified for camping on, wherein the non-initial cell search procedure relies on the demodulation frequency being within limits of accuracy that enable successful reception and decoding of received information. Prior to finding a qualified cell, information enabling a first discovered unqualified cell to again be found is saved. After a period of time during which the non-initial cell search procedure has been performed and before the UE's demodulation frequency is beyond acceptable limits of accuracy, the saved information is used to again tune the demodulation frequency based on reading signals from the first discovered unqualified cell. The UE then continues to perform the non-initial cell search procedure.

The present invention relates to a system and method for improving scanning in a low energy Bluetooth device. The host configures a scan interval length, and a scan window length. The scan window length is equal to or shorter than the scan interval length. Next, a link layer initiates a scan interval, and also generates a random delay. The random delay may be anywhere between zero and the difference between the scan window length and the scan interval length. The link layer waits for the delay to complete before scanning is performed by the transceiver. The transceiver scans for the duration of the scan window. After scanning, the system waits for the end of the scan interval before the link layer generates a subsequent randomized delay and the transceiver again scans for the duration o the scan window. This process may continue indefinitely until a connection is established. In some embodiments, the scan window may be subdivided into a number of sub-windows, each preceded by a randomized delay. In some embodiments, the scan window may be interrupted for other high priority radio procedures. In other embodiments, the link layer may identify these radio usage conflicts, and may recalculate the random delay in order to avoid the conflict entirely.

A method comprising:determining a tail of panelists associated with monitoring information received from a panel;determining that the tail has caused volatility in the monitoring information; andadjusting monitoring information associated with the tail to reduce the volatility.2. A method as defined in claim 1 , wherein determining the tail comprises:determining a number of pageviews associated with each of the panelists; andcomparing the number of pageviews to determine a subset of panelists comprises at least the top ten percent of panelists by pageviews, wherein the tail comprises the subset of panelists.3. Ambiguity (e.g., confusion) associated with access point identifiers may be resolved by querying candidate target access points and/or by using historical records indicative of one or more access points that the access point has previously accessed. For example, messages may be sent to access points that are assigned the same identifier to cause the access points to monitor for a signal from an access terminal that received the identifier from a target access point. The target access point may then be identified based on any responses that indicate that a signal was received from the access terminal. In some aspects the access points subject to being queried may be selected using a tiered priority. In addition, it may be determined based on prior handoffs of a given access terminal that when that access terminal reports a given identifier, the access terminal usually ends up being handed-off to a particular access point. Accordingly, a mapping may be maintained for that access terminal that maps the identifier to that access point so that the mapping may be used to resolve any future confusion associated with the use of that identifier by that access terminal. 1. A profile or dossier of a user is constructed based partly on data culled from a data network that reveals indirect, network-mediated relationships with other individuals and groups.
