The wireless access control system is configured to determine that the available pool of the MAC IDs is insufficient, and in response, select a set of the user devices based on at least wireless signal strength. The wireless transceiver of the base station is configured to instruct the selected set of the user devices to not use the base station for the wireless communication, and in response, the wireless access control system is configured to return ones of the MAC IDs used by the selected set of the user devices to the available pool.

The joint feedback signal is mapped into a codeword according to a predetermined mapping relationship between signals and codewords. Therefore, through the method for combining and encoding feedback signals of two carriers for transmission on a code channel in a dual cell (DC)-MIMO mode, bit error ratio (BER) and detection error cost are decreased, power overhead is saved, and a cubic metric (CM) value of the system is not affected, thereby enhancing the performance of the system.

Power savings in Access Points (APs). Legacy 802.11 modes such as 802.11a, b, g use one transmitter/receive chain per radio. High Throughput (HT) 802.11n modes use multiple (2, 3, or more) transmit/receive chains per radio. Power consumed by the AP may be reduced by powering off unused transmit and/or receive chains. Multiple transmit chains are only powered up when HT 802.11n transmissions requiring them are made. Using protected mode signaling, the AP powers up multiple receive chains needed for HT 802.11n reception on receiving an RTS packet indicating that an 802.11n client wishes to send 802.11n HT data. Transmit and/or receive chains may be powered up with minimum on times. Only certain elements of a chain may be powered up and down, with those elements requiring a great deal of settling time left powered on. Transmit chains may be powered p on the reception of an RTS frame indicating arrival of HT 802.11 data.

Using the channel management methods in the mobile communication system employing the multicarrier structure, an increase in the number of unnecessary retransmissions is prevented, so that unnecessary retransmission and power consumption of the terminal can be reduced and the waste of radio resources and the degradation of base station performance due to unnecessary retransmission can be prevented.

Disclosed is a method of managing an X2 interface, a handover method, an interference coordination method and an apparatus for LTE and LTE-Advanced system. X2 interface management includes: finding by a first eNB, a new neighboring cell, i.e., a second cell corresponding to a second HeNB; determining by the first eNB, an access mode of the second cell; and establishing a first X2 interface between the first eNB and the second HeNB when the access mode of the second cell is an open mode or a hybrid mode. The X2 interface may be managed dynamically and the mode for establishing the X2 interface, such as direct X2 interface or gateway-proxied X2 interface, may be selected. The expansible problem and system overhead due to the X2 interface in the LTE and LTE-Advanced system may be reduced effectively to better support handover and interference coordination.

The state of the first computing device is provided to the second computing devices to alter the data delivery. In some embodiments, the first computing device provides the second computing devices with actions or commands relating to data delivery based on the device state. For example, the second computing devices are instructed to store the data, forward the data, forward only high priority data, or perform other actions. Managing the data delivery from the second computing devices preserves battery life of the first computing device.

A method of reducing client power consumption in a wireless network including a network server which provides computed client' locations, at least one access point (AP), and a plurality of wireless stations (STAs) including a first wireless station (STA1). The AP periodically sends beacon frames that span a beacon period, wherein at least a first beacon frame is sent during the beacon period. The STA1 sends a location request frame to the AP requesting a STA1 location. During the beacon period the STA1 wakes up from a powersave (PS) mode or a sleep mode and sends a PSPoll frame to the AP. Responsive to the PSPoll frame, the AP replies with a priority response being a data frame including a location response packet including the STA1 location or a Null frame if the STA1 location is not available.

Aspects of the present invention provide additional MAC functionality to support the PHY features of a wireless communication system framework. The additional MAC functionality aids in enabling feedback from wireless terminals to base stations. In some aspects of the invention the feedback is provided on an allocated feedback channel. In other aspects of the invention the feedback is provided by MAC protocol data units (PDU) in a header, mini-header, or subheader. The feedback may be transmitted from the wireless terminal to the base station autonomously by the wireless terminal or in response to an indication from the base station that feedback is requested. Aspects of the invention also provide for allocating feedback resources to form a dedicated feedback channel. One or more of these enhancements is included in a given implementation. Base stations and wireless terminals are also described upon which methods described herein can be implemented.

Techniques for sending control information on uplink channels are disclosed. In one design, a user equipment (UE) may determine its current configuration for concurrent transmission of a control channel and a shared channel. The UE may select one or more channels, from among the control channel and the shared channel, to send control information of at least one type in a same subframe. The UE may select the one or more channels based on the types of control information to send, the current configuration for concurrent transmission of the control channel and the shared channel, whether the UE is scheduled for data transmission on the shared channel in the subframe, whether the UE has sufficient transmit power to transmit both the control channel and the shared channel, etc. The UE may send the control information on the one or more selected channels in the subframe.
