[Class 102 (i)] In a beer engine in which a pump cylinder is mounted to upstand from a counter, the hand operating lever pivots, and the delivery pipe projects, forwardly towards the operator. In the form shown, the base 5 for the cylinder 20 is secured to a cross-web 4 on a rectangular frame casting 1, whilst a U-shaped lever 7 is fixed to brackets on cross-pins 9 fixed to the inside walls' 2 of the frame 1. The brackets are quadrant-shaped' and their tops 10a project slightly through openings in a cover plate 14 for the frame 1 to screen these openings for all positions of the lever 7. Movement of the latter is limited by two stops 15, 16 engaging, respectively, the end of one limb 7a of the lever 7 and the end 10b of the corresponding quadrant. The detachable top cap 19 on the cylinder 20 is provided with a laterally extruding outlet stem 18 to which is connected a discharge pipe 21 joined by a detachable union 22 to a curved delivery pipe 21a which extends downwardly through the cover plate 14 to the underside of the counter, where it is supported by a clamp, forwardly beyond the front of the counter, and then upwardly and downwardly to a delivery nozzle over a drip-tray. Access to the pipe 21 is provided by detachable plugs 23, 24. The cylinder 20 may be made of transparent material, or have windowed openings, as described in Specification 540,583.
