Реферат: Polymer blends comprise 75 to 98 weight per cent of polyethylene of density 0.91 to 0.97 g./c.c. at 23 DEG C. and 2 to 25 weight per cent of an ethylene/propylene/non-conjugated diene terpolymer elastomer having a sensitivity of melt viscosity to shear stress conforming to the relationship N1/N2\sF Nm, where N1 is the apparent melt viscosity of the elastomer measured at 200 p.s.i. and 220 DEG C., N2 is the apparent melt viscosity of the elastomer measured at 1800 p.s.i. and 220 DEG C. and Nm is the Mooney (ML8) viscosity of the elastomer measured at 100 DEG C. Preferably, N1/N2\sF 1.3 Nm. The diene component of the elastomer may be dicyclopentadiene, cyclo-octadiene, n-hexadiene or 11-ethyl-1,11-tridecadiene. The blends may contain conventional compounding procedures. An example describes compositions comprising polyethylene, carbon black and ethylene/propylene/non-conjugated diene elastomers, an ethylene/propylene copolymer elastomer or butyl rubber.
