Openers.-Relates to machines such as those described in Specifications No. 1343, A.D. 1878, No. 2246, A.D. 1885, No. 7036, A.D. 1894, No. 20,858, A.D. 1902, and No. 8133, A.D. 1904, for carding dressing, opening, or teasing flocks, wool, kapock, hair, or the like. The fibrous material is discharged from the spiked drum B laterally and upwardly into an expansion chamber A. The dust and small particles are withdrawn by a fan D at the upper part of the chamber, and the cleaned material falls through the opening in the bottom of the chamber. A reticulated screen O may be provided through which dust may drop on to a plate R, from which it may be removed through the door S. A shield or apron P may be provided at the delivery end of the machine.
