Реферат: A surgical instrument includes first and second jaw members each having a proximal portion including a flag defining a cam groove having a hemispherical cross-sectional, and a distal portion defining a tissue-contacting surface. A cam drive mechanism includes a drive rod and a drive ball disposed at a distal end portion of the drive rod. The drive ball is captured within the cam grooves between the flags such that translation of the drive rod in a first direction slides the cam ball through the cam grooves to pivot the distal portion of at least one of the first or second jaw members relative to the distal portion of the other of the first or second jaw members towards an approximated position for grasping tissue between the tissue-contacting surfaces of the distal portions of the first and second jaw members.
