Circular knitting- machines.-Relates to the machines described in Specifications No. 23,560, A.D. 1895, and No. 15,008, A.D. 1900, having doubleended latch needles which are transferred from one cylinder to another to change the pattern of rib and, when one cylinder is shogged, to form a welt. A post 5, bolted to the lower part 7 of the upper cylinder 2, has at its lower end a broad extension 10 fitting between stops 11 on a flanged ring 13, which is moved in a fixed bearing 14 by means of a handle 16 to shog the post and upper cylinder. The web passes down between the post and the stops 11, and is kept distended, to facilitate the passage of heel and toe pouches, by a spring-actuated finger 17. A tricked ring 22, loose on the post 5 or screwed into the lower end of the upper cylinder, serves as a guide for the needles during transference, and also to facilitate the knocking-over of loops. Instead of the upper cylinder, an ordinary ribbing-dial may be used.
