A rupture disc assembly comprises a rupture disc 56 having a substantially spherical portion 62 which ruptures at a predetermined pressure and a cover disc 60 having a complementary spherical portion 55. The portion 55 is formed with arcuate slots 82 arranged in a circle to form lines of weakness, the space between the ends of the slots being sufficient to prevent ballooning of the disc 56 below the predetermined pressure, but allowing rupture of the disc 56 and the cover disc 60 at the predetermined pressure. A third disc 58 may be provided if the system is subject to vacuum. This disc has slots 70 to allow rupture at the predetermined pressure and tabs 76 to provent inward movement under vacuum.
