Door and gate closing apparatus; door holders.- An arc-shaped arm c, Fig. 1, attached to a door or gate a, isadapted to telescope into a similarly-shaped tubular arm d attached to the framework b. An arm ,g connected to the coiled closing-spring projects into the inner arm c so that the door is closed when released. To hold the door in any position, the end of the tube is slotted at f<1> and provided with a clamp e which binds the parts on to the tube c. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, a series of spiral springs h, separated by wedges i, is enclosed in the tube d. The arms c, d are provided with threaded holes k and a slot d<3>, respectively, so that the door may be held open by means of a clamping-screw j. The opening of the door might be limited by a pin m adapted to be placed in one of the holes l. In a further modification, the arm e forms part of a spring hinge. A recess d<4> may be formed in the framework in alinement with the tubular arm d, and the spiral springs may extend into the arm c which is made hollow for that purpose.
