PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new wound dressing which includes bandages and swabs for application to a wound wounded as a result of surgical operation and uses absorbent fiber in a bandage. SOLUTION: A wound dressing has its wound-contacting surface composed of carboxymethylcellulose filaments which can absorb 0.9 wt% of aqueous saline infusion against its self weight (as measured by a free-swelling absorption test) to form swollen transparent gel. The bandage retains fiber characteristics as an agglutinative bandage sufficient to be removed from a wound when the swollen transparent gel is formed. This invention relates to wound dressings with the ability to absorb large amounts of wound fluids and water. For this purpose a super absorbent fibre is used, preferably consisting of polyacrylnitrile. The absorptive power of this fibre is obtained by saponification of surface molecules of the fibre. Through this the core of the fibre will remain inviolable and the stability of the fibre is ensured. Therefore wound dressings with super absorbent qualities can be easily produced.

A wound dressing is characterised in that the wound-contacting surface thereof comprises carboxymethyl cellulose filaments capable of absorbing at least 15 times their own weight of 0.9 % by weight aqueous saline solution (as measured by the free-swell absorbency test) to form a swollen transparent gel. The dressing when thus swollen to form a transparent gel retains sufficient fibrous character to be removed as a coherent dressing from a wound. The carboxymethyl cellulose filaments can be used to treat a traumatic surgical or chronic wound.

Номер: WO2012118975A3
Автор: Nadi Ergenc, Peter Rudolf
Принадлежит: BASF CORPORATION

A laminate polymer composite wound dressing and a process of making and using the same are provided, The laminate polymer composite wound dressing includes, a contact layer, an absorbent layer, and, optionally, a backsheet, an adhesive layer, and a moisture vapor transmission rate control layer, wherein the contact layer includes non-woven polymer fibers, the absorbent layer includes a fibrous web and super absorbent polymer particles. The contact layer can be melt blown onto the absorbent layer to entangle the nonwoven polymer fibers of the contact layer with the fibrous web of the absorbent layer to adhere the contact layer to the absorbent layer. Alternatively, a non-water soluble melt adhesive is used to adhere the contact and absorbent layers. The laminate polymer composite wound dressing can find application in the medical field, such as the treatment of high exuding wounds and dry wounds.

In wound therapy, a combination of negative pressure therapy and subsequent therapy in a preferably moist or moist-wet medium without use of negative pressure reduces costs and improves therapeutic results. Thus, the present invention involves a method for treatment of a wound by therapy having a first segment, in which negative pressure wound therapy is performed, and a subsequent, second segment, in which wound therapy is conducted using a wound dressing without creating a negative pressure. The wound dressing for the second segment has an absorbent body with a superabsorbent polymer. The invention also relates to a device for conducting negative pressure wound therapy and a wound dressing for use in such method, and further to a kit including such a device and wound dressing.
