In a solid fuel or oil-fired water heater, smoke, in the combustion products from a combustion chamber 4, is consumed at the flue throat 8 by a flame curtain, produced by a burner tube 2 having a plurality of gas burner jets 3, and then takes a circuitous path defined by baffles 10 around the water tubes 12 before entering outlet 11. In a modification (Fig. 3), the burner tube 2 is again located within a flue throat (21) but the latter is positioned so that said burner can play on solid fuel supplied by hopper (17) to the inclined grate (15). The gas burner may be used in addition for lighting the solid fuel fire. In both embodiments, as a result of convection, heating of the water tubes may be achieved by the use of the gas burners alone.

In examples, sodium is dissolved in glycerin and the solution is reacted with hydrogenated cottonseed oil. The products may be used as emulsifying agents for mixtures of fatty or mineral oils with water in the production, for example, of cosmetics. The fuel is ignited at the central portion of the tube and the combustion products are drawn by the fan 28 through the entering fuel which is thus preheated and also serves to filter out fly ash from the gases. The tube is not more than eight inches in diameter, the particular diameter used being so chosen, in relation to the size of fuel, that it is no larger than eight lumps lying side by side.

The present invention relates to an air circulation supply-type combustion furnace for a boiler, comprising: an internal firebox part which includes a firebox casing having a horizontally placed rectangular box shape with an arcuate upper portion, and a plurality of air discharge holes drilled in both sides of the firebox casing and a plurality of air discharge units installed on a bottom surface thereof, and which burns a fuel injected into the firebox casing to supply combustion heat through a fuel intake in a rear upper portion thereof; an air-controlled supply part which includes an outer casing surrounding the exterior of the firebox casing, and a first partition plate and a second partition plate fixedly installed at upper and lower portions in order to horizontally block the inside between the firebox casing and the outer casing so that the inside is partitioned into an upper air chamber, a lower air chamber, and a bottom air chamber, wherein the lower air chamber is communicated with an air supply pipe from a blower to receive air, air opening/closing boards are installed on the first and second partition plates for opening and closing to be available, such that supply of the air to the air discharge holes in the firebox casing through the upper and lower air chambers and the supply of the air to the air discharge units through the bottom air chamber are controlled; and a heat induction part which includes a guide pipe and a blow duct, wherein the guide pipe passing through the outer casing fixed is installed on a rear outer side of the firebox casing while surrounding and spaced apart from the exterior of the fuel intake, and the blow duct having an air supplier connected between the outer casing the blow duct is installed in a rear outer portion of the firebox casing to communicate with a lower portion of the guide pipe, such that wind discharged from a rear portion of the guide pipe induces heat from the fuel intake.
