The beneficial effect of the present invention is: by feeding back the PCI information, the terminal realizes the maximization of a block length supported by an existing channel condition after the uplink MIMO is introduced, so as to improve an uplink transmission rate.

Implementation of opportunistic use of stations in a wireless network as repeaters is described. In one implementation, a station detects the existence of rate anomaly in a wireless network. In response to the rate anomaly, the station may transform into a software repeater for certain other neighboring stations. The repeater function allows for the relaying of packets sent by these neighboring stations to the access point and vice versa. The other neighboring stations, owing to their relative proximity to the repeater station, transmit data at a higher rate to the repeater station. Thus, the removal of the slower stations reduces clogging of the access point and increases the overall data rate within the wireless network. Further, a zero-overhead network coding protocol may be implemented in conjunction with the repeater function to increase capacity of the wireless network.

If the I-PGW does not manage the address, processing is so performed that BS processing will be started from the T-PGW managing the address to the mobile terminal. Further, if the mobile terminal is connected to an I-PGW undesired on the N3G access, a request is made for reuse of a key exchanged with the I-PGW upon switching the connection from the I-PGW to the desired T-PGW.

Moreover, only if Bluetooth signaling is successful, the UE proceeds to attach to the FAP. Thus, the system and method disclosed herein can control the UEs that attach to the femtocell, thereby reducing the signaling load and improving battery life of the UEs.

AP (Access Point) station has a capability to acquire information for available channels from a database using a specific protocol related to an operation within the White Space (e.g. Access Network Query Protocol (ANQP)). And, non-AP station can retrieve the information for available channels by transmitting a Generic Advertisement Service (GAS) initial request frame to the AP station, wherein the GAS initial request frame comprises an Advertisement Protocol Element whose element ID indicates the specific protocol, and receiving a GAS initial response frame comprising a White Space Map (WSM) the specific protocol. The WSM comprises one or more white space channel units, and each of the white space channel units comprises a channel number field indicating one of the available channels and a power constraint field indicating a maximum allowable power on the indicated channel.

An apparatus to set a maximum transmission unit (MTU) acquires information about a wireless communication network, sets a basic MTU value based on the kind of wireless communication network as an MTU value, and checks the validity of the set MTU value. The validity of the set MTU value is checked by dividing packets by the set MTU value, transmitting the packets to a communication counterpart, and comparing a response message's error rate to a reference value. The apparatus increases the set MTU value if the set MTU value is valid, decreases the set MTU value if the set MTU value is not valid, and detects an optimal MTU value. The optimal MTU value may refer to a longest MTU value among checked MTU values that has an error rate less than the reference value according to the validity-checking process.

The path involves a wired medium that connects an access device and a distributed node, and the method includes: the access device obtains communication performance parameters of the distributed node; the access device determines frequency used to transmit a wireless signal through the wired medium according to the communication performance parameters and a workable spectrum of the access device; and the access device adjusts parameters of the access device according to the determined frequency, and sends a message that carries the frequency to the distributed node so that the distributed node adjusts parameters of the distributed node according to the frequency to establish a path for transmitting a wireless signal in the wired medium.

Mobile devices, such as a dual standby global phone, can have multiple subscriptions to access different radio access technologies, such as Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technologies. A selective scanning utility recognizes that emergency calls can be processed in any active subscription rather than being independently invoked to obtain a plurality of ways to make an emergency call. The utility limits service acquisition to just one of all active subscriptions in device, thereby achieving the objective of staying camped for limited service without needing to perform cell selection on emergency call origination on a secondary subscription at the cost of battery service. For single-radio devices, this solution also increases the availability of the first selected cell by avoiding the need to tune away for cell selection on the secondary subscription.
