The present invention relates to a method in connection with a refrigeration apparatus (1), wherein a circulating medium is circulated in a pipework (5a, 5b, 5c, 5d) by a compressor (2). The circulating medium is liquefied in a condenser (6) and is evaporated in an evaporator (4). The compressor is driven by a high-speed electric machine (2f). In the method, one substance belonging to the perfluoro-carbons is used as the circulating medium. The invention also relates to a refrigeration apparatus (1) which comprises a compressor (2), a pipework (5a, 5b, 5c, 5d) for circulating the circulating medium by a compressor (2), a condenser (3) for liquefying the circulating medium, and an evaporator (4) for evaporating the circulating medium. The compressor comprises a shaft (2c) provided with a bearing assembly (2d, 2e), and an electric machine (2f) for driving the compressor. One substance belonging to the perfluorocarbons, such as C5F12, is arranged to be used as the circulating medium in the refrigeration apparatus (1).



Claims : 1. A method in connection with a refrigeration apparatus (1), in which a circulating medium is circulated in a pipework (5a, 5b, 5c, 5d) by a compressor (2), the circulating medium is liquefied in a condenser (6) and evaporated in an evaporator (4), and which compressor (2) is driven by a high-speed electric machine (2f), characterized in that only one substance, which belongs to the perfluorocarbons, is used as the circulating medium, and that the compressor used is a kinetic compressor.

2. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that the circulating medium is C5F, 2.

3. The method according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the compressor used is an axial or radial compressor.

4. The method according to claim 1,2 or 3, characterized in that the circulating medium is used for the lubrication of the compressor (2).

A refrigeration apparatus (1), which comprises a compressor (2), a pipework (5a, 5b, 5c, 5d) for circulating a circulating medium by the compressor (2), a condenser (6) for liquefying the circulating medium, and an evaporator (4) for evaporating the circulating medium, and which compressor comprises a shaft (2c) provided with a bearing assembly (2d, 2e), and an electric machine (2f) for driving the compressor, characterized in that only one substance, which belongs to the perfluorocarbons, is arranged to be used as the circulating medium, and that the compressor (2) is a kinetic compressor.

6. The refrigeration apparatus (1) according to claim 5, characterized in that the circulating medium is C5F12.

7. The refrigeration apparatus (1) according to claim 5 or 6, characterized in that the compressor (2) is an axial or radial compressor.

8. The refrigeration apparatus (1) according to claim 5,6 or 7, characterized in that the bearing assembly (2d, 2e) comprises at least one bearing (2d) to be lubricated by the circulating medium in gaseous or liquid state.

9. The refrigeration apparatus (1) according to claim 8, characterized in that said bearing (2d) to be lubricated by the circulating medium in gaseous or liquid state is arranged to provide the radial bearing of the shaft (2c).

10. The refrigeration apparatus (1) according to any of the claims 5 to 9, characterized in that the bearing (2d, 2e) comprises at least one bearing without a circulating medium.

11. The refrigeration apparatus (1) according to claim 10, characterized in that said bearing without a circulating medium is arranged to provide the axial bearing of the shaft (2c).

12. The refrigeration apparatus (1) according to claim 10 or 11, characterized in that the said bearing without a circulating medium is a magnetic bearing (2e).

13. The refrigeration apparatus (1) according to any of the claims 5 to 12, characterized in that the compressor (2) is driven by a highspeed electric machine (2f) directly without an increaser gear.

14. The refrigeration apparatus (1) according to any of the claims 5 to 13, characterized in that the compressor (2) comprises two or more compressor stages (2a, 2b).

15. The refrigeration apparatus (1) according to claim 14, characterized in that the compressor (2) comprises an intercooler (3) between at least two compressor stages (2a, 2b).

16. The refrigeration apparatus (1) according to claim 15, characterized in that said intercooler (3) is a bubble intercooler.

17. The refrigeration apparatus (1) according to any of the claims 5 to 16, characterized in that the compressor (2) is hermetically closed, wherein it is without a shaft led through it.
