The invention discloses a halogen-free flame-retardant ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) resin and a preparation method thereof. The resin is composed of the following components in parts by weight: 50-70 parts of an ABS resin, 15-25 parts of a composite halogen-free flame retardant, 5-10 parts of nano clay treated by a low-molecular-weight lubricant, 5-15 parts of a flexibilizer, 0.5-2 parts of a stabilizer, 0.5-3 parts of a lubricant, 0.2-1 part of an antioxidant, and 0.1-1 part of a coupling agent. Compared with traditional flame retardant ABS resins, the halogen-free flame retardant ABS resin prepared according to the invention is subjected to filling modification by using the nano clay treated by a low-molecular-weight lubricant, so that the diffusion situation of the nano clay in a matrix resin is increased; through a synergistic effect between the nano clay and the composite halogen-free flame retardant, a purpose of improving the decomposition temperature of the flame retardant, reducing the application amount of the composite halogen-free flame retardant, and enhancing the flame retardant level of the matrix resin is achieved.
