[Class 7 (ii).] The silencer comprises a casing 1 of cylindrical, conical or other form with inlet 3 and outlet 4, and enclosing baffles consisting of plates formed into wing portions 7, 8 with an intermediate portion 6 of rectangular, trapezoidal or triangular form arranged about the axis of the casing. Passages 9 of limited area are formed at one or both ends of the part 6 to produce whirling and collision of the gases. Specification 281,808, [Class 7 (ii)], is referred to.
