Sythesis of isoquinuclidine

A process for preparing isoquinuclidine in which a lower alkyl ester of p-aminobenzoic acid is first hydrogenated to form a cis and trans mixture of 4- aminocyclohexanecarboxylic acid alkyl ester on which there is first accomplished a reductive benzylation and then a cyclization to an amide which is then reduced to isoquinuclidine.
