A sintered alumina abrasive grain constituted of alpha-alumina crystal grains, wherein the spinel phases do not constitute any continuous phase but deposit as grains at the triple point of the grain boundary and further the spinel phases
are substantially homogeneously distributed in the abrasive grain; and an abrasive product obtained from the grain. Preferably, the alpha-alumina crystal grain has a mean diameter of 1 mum or less and the spinel phase is composed of alumina and an
