Thermally insulated and moisture repellant textile structure

Номер: GB0002439292A
Принадлежит:

A thermally insulated and moisture-repellent textile structure consists of an inner layer (10) (contact skin): made of moisture-absorbent and sweat-repellent ultrafine fiber; a middle layer (20) made of thermally insulated and anti-static metal yarns combined with moisture-absorbent and sweat-repellent ultrafine fibers; and an outer layer (30) made of moisture-absorbent and breathable pure cotton. When such textiles are applied to apparel like underwear, sweaters or jackets, the ultrafine fibers in the inner layer can completely absorb excessive water molecules on skin surface. When these water molecules that carry body heat pass through the middle layer, through the dual functions of the metal yarns of thermal insulation and the ultra fine fibers of moisture absorbance and sweat repellency, the water molecules are completely absorbed by the outer layer of pure cotton and repelled from the body. The body heat is conserved between the middle layer and human body. Thus when such textile is ...

METHODS FOR STABILIZING AND GARMENTS INCLUDING STABILIZED QUILTED INSULATION

Номер: CA2956597C
Принадлежит: PATAGONIA INC, PATAGONIA, INC.

Methods for stabilizing insulation and constructing garments from the insulation are disclosed. Methods include arranging the fibers into a plurality of bundle structures. The fibers may be synthetic fibers. The method may include receiving the bundle structures into bundle channels. The bundle channels are formed by tacks. The bundle channels enable the uniform distribution of the bundle structures prior to stitching quilting stitch lines. Multiple quilting stitch lines are stitched after the bundle structures are uniformly distributed. The quilting stitch lines are orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the bundle structures. The quilting stitch lines provide lateral as well as longitudinal stabilization of the uniform density of the bundle structures. The distance between the quilting stitch lines may be based on the loft of the fibers and/or a required durability of the garment. The quilting stitch lines are generally horizontal, while the longitudinal axis of the bundle structures ...

An adhesive, moldable and semi rigid device for the passive warming and protection of a person's nose that does not require straps or bands. The apparatus is comprised of three layers. The layers are adhered to one another with a polychloroprene adhesive. The invention itself adheres to the person's nose using a temporary nonionic polymer in conjunction with the customized fit gained from the low temperature moldable plastic centered between two layers of polychloroprene. 1. Nose Warmer and Nose Protector.A self adhering, moldable, and semi-rigid protective attachment for the nose that does not require straps or bands and protects against inclement weather.Current protective patented apparatuses for the nose provide zero combined moldability and adhesive properties. Current patented apparatuses attach to the nose by means of a strap or band as opposed to this application's use of a low temperature moldable plastic and non-ionic polymer adhesion combination rather than straps, bands or ear supports.Other patents also lack the proper material to retain warmth as most materials used are highly porous materials that provide little heat retention or adverse weather protection (e.g. fleece or wool). For example, U.S. Pat. No. 6,070,265 (expired) uses a strap or band to attach a nose protecting apparatus to the person's nose. It is also made from fleece, a highly porous material.Patent number JP2007098092 uses a chemical reaction for the heating of the nose and large portion of the front facial region; it also envelopes more than just the nose and uses a foldable (not moldable) strap that hugs the side of a person's face.Further analysis shows that U.S. Pat. No. 5,697,100A (expired) directly attaches to a persons ski goggles using hook type fasteners. This invention will be described by ...

Applications of the composite materials are also described which take advantage of the composite's thermal characteristics. The examples described include a diver's wet suit, ski boot liners, thermal socks, gloves and a face mask for cold weather activities, and a metabolic heating or cooling blanket useful for treating hypothermia or fever patients in a medical setting and therapeutic heating or cooling orthopedic joint supports.

A multilayer composite material and method for evaporative cooling of a person employs an evaporative cooling liquid that changes phase from a liquid to a gaseous state to absorb thermal energy. The evaporative cooling liquid is absorbed into a superabsorbent material enclosed within the multilayer composite material. The multilayer composite material has a high percentage of the evaporative cooling liquid in the matrix. The cooling effect can be sustained for an extended period of time because of the high percentage of phase change liquid that can be absorbed into the superabsorbent. Such a composite can be used for cooling febrile patients by evaporative cooling as the evaporative cooling liquid in the matrix changes from a liquid to a gaseous state to absorb thermal energy. The composite can be made with a perforated barrier material around the outside to regulate the evaporation rate of the phase change liquid. Alternatively, the composite can be made with an imperveous barrier material or semipermeable membrane on one side to prevent the liquid from contacting the person's skin. The evaporative cooling liquid in the matrix can be recharged by soaking the material in the liquid. The multilayer composite material can be fashioned into blankets, garments and other articles.
