Multi-strand braiding device and method

A device and method for braiding hair or other flexible filaments is disclosed herein. The device comprises a set of gears comprising sector gears and elliptical gears, the elliptical gears having a hollow center portion for receiving the hair or other flexible material. The device further comprises a controller, a motor, a power source, and a user interface. The user interface allows the user to select a variety of weaving patterns. The device and method of the present disclosure may be employed to weave four or more strands of material into a braid.

Automatic hair braiding system

The automatic hair braiding device disclosed herein, when laid against an individual's head over a sectioned portion of hair, can further section and segregate the hair into smaller sections of a specific width automatically. The braiding device will be able to combine additional hair, synthetic or human, that is already pre-fed into the machine to the individual's sectioned hair and braid the individual's hair with integrated hair to the desired length simultaneously. The device will possess a safety feature that can sense hair tension while segregating and braiding hair to minimize hair breakage and notify the user if any added hair is not properly loaded or secured within the device before braiding begins. The device will have the ability to automatically shut off if hair should become tangled during any phase of the braiding process. The device will have the ability to program hair sectioning and braid size through computer software capability and mobile phone Bluetooth application. Users will have the ability to sanitize the device to maintain state regulated health and hygiene requirements.

A hair braiding apparatus includes a main housing having a lower portion defining a lower interior area. A rotor assembly is mounted to the lower portion of the main housing and includes a rotor motor having a plurality of rotors operatively coupled to the rotor motor. The rotor assembly includes at least a pair of orbital tracks configured to receive the plurality of rotors for movement therealong. A plurality of hair retention members are coupled to respective rotors for positioning hair to be styled. A processor is positioned in the lower portion and electrically connected to the rotors for actuating the rotors to move along the orbital tracks. A needle apparatus for pulling loose hair into existing braids, cornrows, dreads, or any other hair styles with tightly pulled hair includes a flexible needle-eye and a needle-tip. The needle-tip includes a rigid member and an eye interface. The flexible needle-eye being configured into a continuous loop so that loose hair can be trapped with the needle apparatus. The eye interface is terminally positioned about the rigid member so that the flexible needle-eye can be terminally connected to the rigid member by the eye interface. The rigid member is then inserted through the existing braids, cornrows, dreads, or any other hair styles with tightly pulled hair so that the flexible needle-eye is able to pull loose hair back into the existing braids, cornrows, dreads, or any other hair styles with tightly pulled hair.

The present invention provides an improved method of hairdressing for dreadlocks, the results of which are long lasting without the requirement of extensive and costly maintenance. The method curls locks internally using a length of thread () that is inserted inside each dreadlock () using a needle-like device () and attached to the dreadlock at two or more attachment points (). The thread () is tensioned between the two or more points () so as to compress the hair between said points, thereby shortening the length of the dreadlock (). This compression also allows for any weak points in the locks () to be condensed and strengthened. If enough shortening is applied, the dreadlock () will reach a point at which it cannot compress any further and will consequently curl or kink. The more tension applied, the more the dreadlock () will curl or kink. Such an effect will last as long as the thread remains inside the dreadlock (), and will not be spoilt from every day wear or water exposure. 1. The hair retention heads are carried on two rotating discs that rotate 360° in opposite directions. A hair clip on each hair retention head is height adjustable to fasten and release the lock of hair. A hair curling system embodying a novel device and method for overnight use is provided. The hair curling system includes a sectioning tool and a separate curling strip. The sectioning tool may include an elastic cord forming a loop shape, wherein a stopper member is disposed there along. The curling strip may include an elongated strip of material that terminates in a collar. The collar may define a collar opening adapted to receive the stopper member. The user may use the sectioning tool to secure a predetermined section of hair whereby the stopper member may subsequently receive the collar and thus hang the attached elongated strip near the scalp of the user. The user may then twirl the predetermined section of hair using the entire curling strip. The sectioning tool is then removed, facilitating a comfortable sleep with at least one curling strip in place. 1. The rotation of the main spindle (230) causes cord to be dispensed through the one guide, the drive spindle bore, and the main spindle bore. Hair is disposed through the drive spindle bore and the main spindle bore. The main spindle is rotated to wrap the hair with cord.
