A coreless and spirally wound non-woven filter element is provided. The filter element includes at least one band of base media having a selected porosity and an interlay having a different porosity within at least one band of base media. The presence of the interlay in the filter element can create additional surface area within the contiguous construction of a filter element for filtration. This interlay can also create the ability to change direction of flow and to increase the deposition of specifically sized contaminants.

A polymer filtration apparatus for sealing a slide plate translatable across a bore of an extrusion or mold machine, includes an annular seal having a sealing surface which is biased against the slide plate by a spring mechanism. The annular seal has a thrust surface which is angled relative to the sealing surface and the thrust surface is located at an opposite axial end of the annular seal from the sealing surface. The spring mechanism can be a single spring with overlapping tangs or a multiple spring assembly in overlapping relationship, with or without tangs, to form a continuous barrier. The spring assembly is used to exert a radial force against the thrust surface of the annular seal to bias the seal in an axial direction against the downstream slide plate. A filter core and manufacturing method thereof, the manufacturing method has the following steps: adhering a wavy filtering sheet and a flat filtering sheet, pressing the filtering sheets, and rolling the filtering sheets. A part of peaks of the wavy filtering sheet are pressed to lean toward a same side. In particular, two sides of a first end sealing adhesive layer are pressed. Thus, the first end sealing adhesive layer is concentrated, such that the glue is uniformly spread to the two sides. Besides, the pressing on the two sides makes the two sides of the first end sealing adhesive layer adhered securely, thereby preventing the wavy filtering sheet from rebounding upward and forming bubbles. Thus, the first end sealing adhesive layer can be formed with less quantity of glue, which accelerating the cooling and raises manufacture efficiency.

A filtration vessel, having within constituent filter media is formed using plastic injection molding to meet the interior specifications of a high-pressure filtration encasement system while remaining a separate replaceable component. The encasement system supports and encases walls of the filtration vessel enabling the vessel to be designed with sufficient strength and resiliency to form a seal and constrain filter media prior to and after use without necessitating construction to endure independent high-pressure operations. The bottom or base of the vessel includes a plurality of holes through which the filtrate may flow. Interposed between the base of the vessel and the filter media is a semi-permeable barrier imbedded into the injection molded walls and base of the vessel. The barrier prevents residue from contaminating the filtrate.

The shifter housing mounts a bumping device which cooperates with the endmost plate in the stack to effect vertical bumping thereof relative to the support rails to assist in loosening sticky cake which adheres to the plate. The shifter housing also mounts an air-assist discharge mechanism which includes a nozzle-bearing head assembly which moves vertically downwardly between the opposed faces of an open pair of adjacent plates for discharging pressurized airstreams downwardly against the plates to assist in removing the sticky cake from the plates. The overall operation of the shifter assembly is fully automated to permit each adjacent pair of plates in the closed stack to be opened, bumped and subjected to an air blow to cause discharge of sticky cake.

If the spinning of the fibers is continuous, the cylinder can be formed in a continuous length. Control of the spinning rate in relation to the diameter and rate of rotation of the mandrel and the rate of advance of the cylinder on the mandrel controls the thickness of the cylinder. The cylinder can be drawn off the mandrel and used as a cylinder, or either slit lengthwise and opened out, or collapsed onto itself, for use as a sheet. The process is particularly adapted for forming filter elements.

The filter pads or the filter packings produced therefrom according to the invention can, when used, and after reflushing and regeneration operations, finally be utilized, after being replaced, as filter aids in the deposit filtration process.

The tools engage the sides of the filter media. The tools define a major to provide the media pack with a oblong or elongated shape. The web may be fed at constant linear speed, and/or a motor may be controlled in a manner to provide constant driving torque to maintain a constant tension on the web. The winding apparatus and methods may include apparatus or methods to modify the feed path of the web to adjust the tension of the web as it is being wound. Further, the coiled media packs can be fixtured to prevent relaxation. A method may form various shaped media packs with the same apparatus.

A filter arrangement includes a filter element configured for straight through flow and a handle member secured to the filter element. The filter element may typically have a plurality of flutes where selected ones of the flutes are open at upstream portions and closed at downstream portions, and where selected ones of the flutes are closed at the upstream portions and open at the downstream portions. In one embodiment, the handle member is secured to the central core member. In some embodiments, the handle member and the central core member are a single molded construction. The handle member can include a single aperture, such as an elongated slot, or a plurality of apertures. A method for servicing a system having a straight through flow filter element includes grasping a handle secured to the filter element, and pulling the handle to remove the filter element from the system.

A single facer media is provided according to the invention. The single facer media includes a fluted sheet attached to a facing sheet and having a first end and a second end so that when the single facer media is formed into a media pack, the first end or the second end forms a media pack first face, and the other of the first end or the second end forms a media pack second face. Adhesive is provided between the fluted sheet and the facing sheet at the first end or the second end, and wherein the fluted sheet and the facing sheet are pushed together and adhered together at the location of the adhesive to provide a seal between the fluted sheet and the facing sheet. At least 25% of the flutes of the fluted sheet comprise at least one ridge extending along at least 50% of the flute length between adjacent peaks. Filtration media packs, filter elements, and methods for forming a single facer media are provided.
