Tray is configured to be supported by a tray support, having aerating apertures. According to a second aspect of the invention, the vapour-liquid contact tray apparatus includes a tray and a tray support having aerating apertures. One or more apertures are partially covered with a coating that is arranged to interact with vapour passing through the aerating apertures. In removing/replacing detachable grid/bubble trays overhead from columns for cleaning off deposits, e.g. in olefin treatment, the fastening merely by bolts is replaced by horizontal shackles with one leg gripping underneath the tray support welded to the column, the other leg being proided with a thread, allowing a bolt to press down the tray via a plate, thus clamping the tray to its support. The shackle is introduced through an opening in the tray, giving ample clearance for its removal/refixing from/to the tray, while the plate upon it has min. clearance for the shackle and covers the opening in the tray, thus ensuring a good seal between the spaces either side of the tray.

A cartridge tray seal for a chemical process tower. The seal includes a teflon impregnated fiberglass member which presents a generally flaccid sealing element. The member is folded within a generally u-shaped channel positioned around the perimeter of the cartridge tray. A securing strap is positioned within the u-shaped channel to sandwich the fiberglass material therein in a configuration for presenting a pair of outwardly extending sealing lips for engagement against the shell wall. This double pliable seal is able to accommodate shell wall deformations and out-of-round conditions which would ordinarily result in liquid and/or vapor leakage around the cartridge tray.

An elongated support beam is provided for supporting internals such as liquid collectors, liquid distributors, packing supports, or trays within a mass transfer column. The support beam is divided longitudinally into a lower beam segment and an upper beam segment that are joined together by a plurality of connectors at one or more longitudinally spaced-apart positions. The connectors serve to stiffen and resist lateral deflection of the lower and upper beam segments in relation to each other and to transfer the load carried by the upper beam segment to the lower beam segment or vice-versa. By dividing the support beam into lower and upper beam segments, each of the lower and upper beam segments can be passed through a manway opening in a shell of the mass transfer column prior to assembly of the support beam or following disassembly of the support beam within the mass transfer column.

A method for securing a tray in a chemical-process column , the method comprising:placing the tray on a support formed on an interior of the chemical-process column;disposing a bolt through the tray;positioning a clamp below the tray, the clamp being engaged with the bolt;engaging the clamp with a bottom surface of the tray and a bottom surface of the support;securing the tray to the support via a clamp system comprising a clamp and a bolt; andarticulating the bolt with respect to at least one of the clamp or the tray.2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the articulating comprises articulating the bolt by zero degrees relative to the clamp.3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the clamp comprises a generally U-shaped profile.4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the clamp comprises a generally V-shaped profile.5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the articulating comprises angularly displacing the bolt via a rounded bolt seat.6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the rounded bolt seat is disposed on an underside of the clamp.7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the articulating comprises angularly displacing the bolt via a dome-shaped washer.8. Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine Kolonne (1) zur thermischen Behandlung von fluiden Gemischen mit einem zylindrischen, vertikal ausgerichteten Kolonnenkörper (2), der einen Kolonnenhohlraum (3) bildet, mehreren Böden (8), die vertikal beabstandet voneinander in dem Kolonnenhohlraum (3) montiert sind, und einer Tragekonstruktion (9), die zumindest einen der Böden (8) in vertikaler Richtung stützt. Die erfindungsgemäße Kolonne ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Verhältnis A/B kleiner 1/2 ist, wobei A der vertikale Abstand eines beliebigen Punktes P auf der Oberfläche der Tragekonstruktion (9) von dem untersten Punkt der Tragekonstruktion (9) ist und B der horizontale Abstand des Punktes P von einem beliebigen Punkt P' auf der Oberfläche der Tragekonstruktion (9) ist, der auf derselben Höhe wie der Punkt P liegt und der Teil einer nicht horizontalen Fläche ist, wobei die Verbindungslinie zwischen den Punkten P und P' ununterbrochen durch den Kolonnenhohlraum (3) verläuft. Bei der Kolonne handelt es sich insbesondere um eine Trennkolonne, in welcher ein Gemisch behandelt wird, welches (Meth)acrylmonomere enthält. An improved wet scrubber tray provides increased resistance to vibration-induced cracking. The tray is self supporting to eliminate wastage of raw material, and additional internal stiffeners added to the tray make multiple intermediate stiffeners. The connection of the intermediate stiffeners to the perforated bottom plate is changed to eliminate the shop weld in the bottom plate. The holes in the perforated bottom plate are repositioned so that they are moved away from the boundaries of the tray to reduce their influence on boundary conditions. The thickness of the tray material may be increased to lower the vibratory stresses. The mechanism for holding the trays themselves within the spray absorber tower is changed so that the trays are now held down by plate material that is attached to the support grid, but not to the trays. Three field welds are applied to the sides of each tray to hold the trays in place relative to each other and are strategically placed to allow adjacent side stiffeners to act together as a composite section, thus increasing their strength. Elastomeric material such as neoprene is used at the tray-to-grid attachments to increase the damping of the system. Formed features in the trays such as single or multiple ribs, bosses, domes or dimples may also be provided to increase tray stiffness or influence wet scrubber performance.
