Disclosed is a bone mixing apparatus ( 100 ) comprising a mixing cylinder ( 110 ) with ends ( 111 ) and ( 112 ). End ( 111 ) is a closed whereas end ( 112 ) is open and capable of being attached to other apparatus. The mixing cylinder ( 110 ) forms a cavity within which the mixing of different components used to form bone cement may occur. The mixing cylinder ( 110 ) may therefore form a closed sealed container with which hazardous gases formed during the mixing process may be contained. This prevents the hazardous gases from coming into contact with persons in the surrounding area. Attached onto a central region of the mixing cylinder ( 110 ) there is a compartment ( 114 ) which is used to receive a cartridge ( 118 ). The compartment ( 114 ) basically functions as replaceable part which forms part of the sealed enclosure. The cartridge ( 118 ) comprises different components which go to make up the bone cement. The cartridge ( 118 ) may therefore comprise a powder material and a liquid material which are initially separated in different parts of the cartridge ( 118 ) but when mixed form the bone cement mixture. Further disclosed is also a method for dispensing bone cement mixing material.

A whisk wiper, a device having a a plurality of intersecting slits angularly disposed in an asterisk type pattern, is mounted onto a whisk. It is pulled down over the loops 44 , each loop 44 guided through a slit 32 . To clean off mixture 50 stuck to the whisk 46 the whisk wiper 30 is simply pulled off, the opposed edges of each slit 32 wiping the loops 44 clean, the removed mixture 50 collected on the top side of the whisk wiper 30 so it can be then returned to the mixing bowl 52. The whisk wiper 30 is also a splash guard, support to hang the whisk 46 on the edge of a bowl, keeps the whisks loops up off the surface when the whisk is set down and the outer edge 40 can be used to wipe out the mixing bowl 52 . Additionally the whisk wiper can be configured to be turned inside out to allow the slits to be easily cleaned.

A support structure may include a plurality of outlets or chutes for discharging the bulk material. A dust control damper coupled to the outlets not currently in use for the discharge of bulk material may prevent dust from escaping into the surrounding air. The dust control dampers may automatically transition between a closed position and an open position. A flexibly collapsible shroud may also be coupled to a discharge gate of a container. The shroud may expand to seal against the outlet when bulk material is discharge. A vacuum system at or near an outlet may reclaim any dust that escapes during discharge of the bulk material.

Said screw mechanism is comprised of the first screw with one tip ( 3 ) and the second screw with two tips ( 4 ). There is a baffle in the channel of the first screw and the baffle's height is lower than that of the screw flight. The baffle will cause hyperbolic perturbation in the shape of a ‘ figure 8 ’ flow pattern above the top of the baffle. The first and second screws rotate at the same speed and touch each other at all times, thereby achieving a self-cleaning function. The baffle will generate chaotic mixing in the screw channel caused by the hyperbolic perturbation. Topological chaos is also introduced into the screw channel by the mechanism ‘one part divided into two parts, then two parts converging into one part, and then one part divided into two parts once more’. Each of the screws in the present invention uses an asymmetrical flow channel geometrical shape, such that a periodic action like ‘compression—expansion—further compression—expansion further’ works. The above three enhancement mechanisms work together to efficiently accelerate melting and mixing.

Die erfindungsgemässe Multicellanlage (1) ist für den chargenweisen und insbesondere quasi-kontinuierlichen Betrieb, also für die kontinuierliche Bearbeitung von rasch aufeinanderfolgenden Chargen, geeignet. So zum Beispiel zur Herstellung von gut fliessfähigen Granulaten, welche zur Abfüllung in Kapseln, Sachets geeignet sind. Die Anlage (1) stellt insbesondere ein multifunktionales System dar, das die Verfahrensschritte Chargenvorlage (2), Dosierung (3), Mischung/Granulierung(4), Trocknung (5), Produktkühlung und Produktsammlung (6, 7) in einer sehr kompakten Bauweise miteinander kombiniert. Die einzelnen Chargen werden innerhalb der Anlage durch einen hermetisch nach aussen abgeschlossenen Produktweg geführt, in dem allenfalls noch zusätzlich und mindestens in Teilabschnitten ein gegenüber dem Umgebungsdruck erniedrigter Innendruck herrscht. Dies ermöglicht zusammen mit den an einer zentralen Reinigungsanlage angeschlossenen Reinigungsdüsen (30) einen kontaminationsfreien Betrieb sowohl mit wässrigen als auch mit organischen Ausgangsprodukten. <IMAGE>

A paddle agitator is located within the vessel, having a hollow shaft running longitudinally within the vessel. Affixed at an angle to the shaft are a plurality of hollow triangular-shaped paddles, which paddles push product horizontally during operation. Liquid refrigerant circulates through the hollow wall of the vessel, as well as the hollow agitator shaft and paddles. The agitator shaft is connected to a reversible motor that periodically reverses the direction of rotation, thereby maximizing heat exchange between product and liquid refrigerant.
