The present invention provides a structured packing comprising a plurality of corrugated sheets and a plurality of flat, planar members alternating with and located between the sheets to inhibit turbulence in vapor ascending through the structured packing. The plurality of planar members are positioned so that at least the lowermost horizontal edge of the planar members and the corrugated sheets are situated proximal to one another as viewed when said structured packing is in use. When the planar members have substantially the same length and width as the corrugated sheets, the planar members and the corrugated sheets have perforations sized to inhibit transverse liquid and vapor flow while but allowing transverse pressure equalization through the structured packing. The size and number of perforations can be optimized for air separation applications.

An improved contact body element, for use in forming the fill of a gas and liquid contact apparatus to produce interaction between a gas and liquid flowing through the apparatus, of the type having formed sheet members with a longitudinally extending edge of the sheet member folded over on a longitudinally extending surface of the corrugated member. This provides a strip of sheet material secured in overlapping relationship to the surface of the formed sheet member forming a full gap therebetween. An adhesive with intumescent qualities, which are triggered by heat, is applied within the fold such that the longitudinal edge and longitudinal surface in cooperation with the adhesive form a substantially rigid ply that is substantially resistant to erosion and can withstand higher compressive forces and which will expand in the event of fire, to block the openings between the sheets. The sheet edge may be slitted along its length to facilitate this blockage.

SERPENTINE FILM FILL PACKING FOR EVAPORATIVE HEAT AND MASS EXCHANGE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A contact body or evaporative heat and mass exchanger packing composed of a plurality of side-by-side thin sheets interlocked with one another. The sheets are grooved with a serpentine-like, continuously-variable, cross section form to produce a plurality of liquid and gas channels between the sheets. The sheets have integrally-formed knobs and sockets specifically located to provide up-spaced alternate sheet support without utilizing adhesives of any type. The sheets are preferably composed of a thermoplastic material of any desired length, being continuously pressure-vacuum formed from long sheet rolls. The groove crests abut adjacent sheets apices at continuously-variable spacings of both greater and lesser dimension than the basic edge spacing of the serpentine grooves. The flat crests or apices of grooves are also infinitely variable in width dimension while maintaining a constant sidewall groove angle. The individual sheets are rotatable oriented to provide ideal bottom edge alternate sheet displacement for enhancing fluid flow.

The present invention provides a structured packing comprising a plurality of corrugated sheets and a plurality of flat, planar members alternating with and located between the sheets to inhibit turbulence in vapor ascending through the structured packing. The plurality of planar members are positioned so that at least the lowermost horizontal edge of the planar members and the corrugated sheets are situated proximal to one another as viewed when said structured packing is in use. When the planar members have substantially the same length and width as the corrugated sheets, the planar members and the corrugated sheets have perforations sized to inhibit transverse liquid and vapor flow while but allowing transverse pressure equalization through the structured packing. The size and number of perforations can be optimized for air separation applications.

This structurized packing matter demarcating material is improved in capacity by about 17% as compared with a conventional one as shown by a drawing.

The invented system used in wet cooling tower, restore outlet fog of cooling tower into collection basin and consequently cooling water cycle. This invention consists of three main components; pump and its pertaining piping, waterfall and micron fog eliminator. In the first stage, the air containing fog is passed through a waterfall before exhausting. This action causes some portions of fog to condensate and fall down, remaining droplets of the fog grow and together with air cross the fog eliminator blades.
