The piece (27) is rectified between a stationary grinder and a mobile grinder (2) with the latter advanced rapidly from withdrawn position to apply continuous pressure to the piece (27) during rectification. The mobile grinder (2) is advanced by a motor (7, 8), which receives power through a distributor (12), and the piece-mounting (25) incorporates a detector (24) of vibrations. When the piece (27) is contacted by the mobile grinder (2), and is pushed against the stationary grinder, the detector (24) is activated. At this instant the detector (24) sends a signal to an amplifier (23). The amplifier controls the feed to a relay (22) which in turn controls the power feed to the motor. The mobile grinder (2) may be mounted on a slide (4) which is displaced by the motor in the form of a hydraulic ram (7, 8).

To compensate for supply voltage variations a signal proportional to the power or current consumption of an electric motor under no or light load conditions is compared with the signal under load conditions after attenuation of the latter, to provide a signal by which the feed rate of the tool is controlled. A noise cancelling circuit for eliminating periodic noise is disposed between the detector producing the signal proportional to consumption and the comparator in order to eliminate periodic noise from the signal. Prior to the finish-grinding in size-controlled grinding operations, workpieces and grinding machine are often relieved of pressure by briefly lifting the grinding wheel away from the workpiece. The grinding wheel is then fed once again at a very low rate which corresponds to the finish-grinding, as a result of which the machining time is substantially lengthened. An example method involves operating at least one processor to: receive a sequence of images of workpieces in the manufacturing line; extract feature data from the sequence of images; apply the feature data to a predictive model to detect anomalies in the manufacturing line; and generate annotations to locate the anomalies within the images.
