A prescribed distance (d) between the adhesive periphery ( 5 a ) and the outermost spacer ( 4 e ) is set to provide a desired state of deformation of the panel-shaped body ( 3 ) after a shrinkage of the applied adhesive ( 5 ) (e.g. minimized bending of the body.) In an associated composite body ( 1 ), the prescribed distance (d) lies between 20 μm and 250 μm, preferably between 30 μm and 200 μm, in particular between 40 μm and 150 μm.

In this respect, a film is first applied to and positioned at a transfer mold and the body to be film coated is introduced into the transfer mold to which the film to be attached is applied or the transfer mold to which the film to be attached is applied is introduced into the body to be film coated so that the film is located between the body and the transfer mold. In the further course, a vacuum is applied in a region between the body and the film and/or an excess pressure is applied in a region between the transfer mold and the film so that the film moves from the transfer mold onto the body. A particularly simple method that is fast to be carried out is thereby provided for applying a film to a surface.

The single component resin composition of claim 1 , wherein said single component resin remains liquid at temperatures below 160 degrees Fahrenheit.3. The present invention relates to a foil applicator, such as a spatula ( 1 ), for applying foil, in particular self-adhesive foil, to a surface, for instance the bodywork of a car. It is the object according to the present invention to provide an improved foil applicator. For this purpose the handgrip ( 2 ) is elongate and the pressing edge ( 5 ) lies at an angle relative to the handgrip. The foil applicator further comprises at least one hook ( 7, 8 ). Using the hook adhered foil can be pulled back, for instance out of or from edges, seams and transitions, in the event air bubbles have been included in the foil, without having to pick up another tool, which would take some time and during which time the foil could adhere more fixedly to the surface and the foil could be damaged even more when—after another tool has been picked up—it must then be released at or from the edges, seams and transitions.

The present Invention discloses two robot assisted automated methods for application of decals on complex 3 dimensional surfaces without wrinkle and bubble. The method includes loading of objects having 3D surfaces on an object holding fixture manually from a conveyor belt, picking up a first application fixture automatically by a robot, peeling off the liner disposed on the decal manually and placing the decal on the first application fixture which holds the decal by suction, positioning the decal with exposed adhesive accurately on a first 3D surface of the object and switching off the suction automatically leaving the decal placed on the 3D surface of the object, placing the first application fixture back and picking up a second application fixture automatically by the robot for squeegee application, applying the second application fixture to complete the squeegee application by pressurizing the decal. The first application fixture is configured to be programmed to hold decals of different shape and size and the second application fixture is configured to be programmed to identify the 3D direction of squeezing pad motion within each region of such decals to eliminate the bubbles without wrinkling. The second method uses a mechatronic pick and place mechanism for picking up a decal from the decal stack and placing of the decal on the 3D surface of the object automatically.

The heated fabric member is placed on the side of the trim where the trim grooves are formed.
