FIELD: food industry, tobacco. ^ SUBSTANCE: tobacco crumber has a HP chamber that, in its turn, has an inlet hole for tobacco raw material on the LP side, an outlet hole with a clearance for thermal expansion on the HP side and a shaft-mounted auger conveyor for tobacco raw material transportation from the inlet hole to the outlet hole. The auger conveyor shaft is mounted on the inlet hole side and passes behind the outlet hole where it is equipped with one more support represented by a counter-bearing. The outlet hole with a clearance has the first outlet hole part attached to the HP chamber or to the outlet manifold and the second outlet hole part mounted on the shaft so that to be capable of rotation synchronously with it. For the clearance size adjustment the second outlet hole part may axially be locked in different positions on the auger conveyor shaft. Additionally, the invention deals with a tobacco crumbing method envisaging transportation of tobacco raw material from the inlet hole to the outlet hole with the help of the auger conveyor the both end parts whereof are mounted on the shaft whose operational rate may be as much as 600 min-1. ^ EFFECT: invention enables reliable operation of the device in any operation mode, reducing the shaft wear and increasing tobacco raw material passage rate. ^ 13 cl, 2 dwg

In the support of a series thrust bearing mounted along a rotating shaft and riding on stationary bearing tracks mounted on a corresp. series of support plates, the mutual alignment and load-sharing of the support plates is ensured by pairs of rods mounted on a stack of balanced levers supported on opposite sides of an ancillary thrust plate. The plates are keyed against rotation by an adjacent rod. The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for processing of waste and in particular processing involving a volumetric reduction of waste materials. There is an apparatus for processing waste material comprising a compaction compartment for receipt of waste material, the compaction compartment have a screw vane for processing waste material through the compaction compartment and a waste material outlet. In one aspect the apparatus comprises a heating zone including an arrangement for heating the waste material received from the waste outlet, the apparatus further comprising a cooling zone including a cooling arrangement for cooling the waste material received from the heating zone. In another aspect, at least one of the screw vane or wall comprises one or more ports therein for transfer of liquid from the waste material, the one or more ports having a port inlet and a port outlet, wherein the area of the opening defined by the port inlet is different to the area of the opening defined by the port outlet. In a further aspect, a heating zone for receiving waste material from the waste material outlet is provided where the heating zone includes an arrangement for heating the waste material in the heating zone, and a blocking element for impeding movement of waste material from the heating zone.

ABSTRACT The two worm screws of a double worm screw extruder have drive shafts of different lengths. To drive one of the worm screws, a pinion (1) is keyed to the longer drive shaft (2), the pinion (1) being driven by a motor pinion (3). In order to drive the second worm screw there is provided, firstly, an additional shaft 6 which carries on one end a pinion (5) and on the other end a pinion (7), and, secondly, a pinion (10) mounted on the longer drive shaft (2). The pinion (5) is driven by the motor pinion (3), and the two pinions (7, 10) mesh with a pinion (8) which is keyed to the shorter drive shaft (11). A drive is created which can be kept small in view of the relatively small number of pinions, and moreover is easy to dismantle.

Clutching means (74) cooperates with the clutch gears (48,50) and is externally actuable to move between two positions in which a respective one of the clutch gears (48,50) is rotationally connected to the associated shaft (30,40) and a neutral position in which neither of the clutch gears is coupled to the associated shaft. By appropriately positioning the clutching means and subsequent actuation of the motor the screw threaded portion may be rotated in either direction to screw the screw threaded portion into and out of the corresponding screw threaded hole in the housing so as to connect and disconnect the main body and the housing.

NEW ABSTRACT A screw press is having a radial gate valve and supported longitudinally-extending screw shaft. The screw shaft includes a central shaft and helical threads which is driven by a drive package. The screw shaft is encapsulated within a housing including a hopper portion, transition portion, bearing portion and screen portion. A transition portion includes a radial gate valve which is angled such that the radial gate valve's axis of rotation is substantially parallel to the screw shaft threads. In addition, the screw shaft is supported by a first support at its proximal extremity and a second support towards its distal extremity. The support at its distal extremity includes one or more wear bearings which concentrically support the threads of the screw shaft in a frictional engagement manner. The angle of the radial gate valve with respect to the screw presses housing provides for greater pressure build up within the screen portion. Moreover, the use of wear bearings reduces wear to the housing and screen due to metal on metal contact with the screw threads and also provid for increased efficiency of the screw press operation.

A radial bearing for two parallel shafts whose direction of radial load is inclined 60° to 75° to the outside toward a line intersecting the two shaft axes comprising a pair of races with a spherical outer contour adjustably mounted in a common bearing housing, the said races being flattened at their facing points with a gap between the races whereby the axes of the races are so close together that their distance is less than the diameter of a race, the recess of the housing receiving the races having an inside width of at least the axial length of the races, one of said races being provided at the side opposite the flattened portion with two plane or slightly curved surfaces inclined to each other in the manner of a roof and running from the end faces of the race and protruding into the area of its crowned surface and the said housing being a unitary element provided in the area of one recess at one end face with an inlet groove corresponding to the cross-sectional profile of said race.
