Принадлежит: Glad Products Co

Methods of increasing the loft of a multi-ply thermoplastic film include stretching thermoplastic films with different rebound ratios, non-continuously laminating the films together, and releasing the films to create puckers in one or more of the films. The puckers can comprise billowing of one of the films. The non-continuous laminated areas can maintain the puckers in the films. The puckers can increase the loft of the film, improve the feel of the film, and/or modify the look of the film. The loft of such multi-ply puckered thermoplastics films vary independent of the basis weight of the films. Thus, multi-ply puckered thermoplastics films with increased loft of one or more implementations can look and feel thicker while using reduced amounts of thermoplastic material.

Specific composite materials described herein are based on the discovery that certain selections of materials and manufacturing conditions and processes provide unexpectedly improved self-supporting thin-film composite materials. It has been discovered that certain combinations of backing materials, shrink film materials, and manufacturing conditions provide improved composites having highly controllable, readily repeatable, and stable arc shaped cross-web curled structures. In general, the composite materials described herein comprise a dimensionally alterable film such as a polyester shrink film having a first surface and a second surface, and a polyester backing material having a first surface and a second surface, wherein the second surface of the backing material is laminated to the first surface of the dimensionally alterable film. Upon activation of the alterable film, for example upon exposing the composite material comprising the polyester heat shrink film to heat, the composite material can be imparted with an arc shaped cross-web curled structure along it longitudinal width, resulting in resistance to bending in its axial length, and a self-supporting material. 1. TIP BONDED FORMED LAMINATES OF FILM

Номер: US20190001611A1
Принадлежит:

Tip bonded formed laminates, and methods for making tip bonded formed laminates, are made from multiple layers of formed substrates made from films which are bonded together at the tips of their formed protrusions. Tip bonded laminates can be designed with greater resistance to bending, improved resilience to compression, and can be patterned for directionally oriented responses to tensile loads. Also, tip bonded formed laminates made from multiple layers of formed substrates can use their layered structure to provide better aesthetics as well as better physical properties such as improved puncture resistance. Tip bonded formed laminates can be configured with thicker portions and designed patterns, which are appealing to consumers. A tip bonded formed laminate can be made from two or more formed substrates and can be used instead of a single, thick, unformed, substrate, so the laminate can use about the same amount of material, while still providing surprising functional benefits. Tip bonded formed laminates can provide these benefits without relying on more expensive polymers and/or high concentrations of additives and offer significant improvements at a reasonable cost, when compared with unformed, single layer substrates. 1. SELECTIVE COMPONENT BONDING TECHNIQUE

Номер: US20160004029A1
Автор: Tun Tin
Принадлежит:

A method of selectively bonding a component to a substrate prevents glue displacement onto neighboring components. The method entails shortening a section of the perimeter of a mount wall so that the foot of the mount wall contacts the glue without causing substantial displacement. A cure step hardens and holds the shortened foot of the mount wall in a stationary position, while providing a partial bond. Meanwhile the rest of the mount wall that is not located near contact pads on the substrate has a tall foot that extends to the surface of the substrate and is bonded in the usual way. By modifying the component, it is not necessary to modify either the chemistry of the epoxy or the epoxy dispense operation. 1. A method of selectively bonding a component to a substrate , the method comprising:fabricating a customized device mount attachable to the component, the customized device mount having a mount wall that includes a tall foot and a short foot, a length difference between the tall foot and the short foot designed to substantially match a selected height of a narrow glue line;dispensing epoxy onto a top surface of the substrate to form a narrow glue line, the narrow glue line having a top surface spaced apart from the substrate at the selected height;aligning the mount wall to the narrow glue line;adhering the mount wall to the substrate so that a lower surface of the short foot contacts the top surface of the narrow glue line; andcuring the glue lines.2. The method of wherein the substrate is a printed circuit board (PCB).3. The method of wherein the component is an optical lens assembly.4. The method of wherein the curing further comprises baking the substrate together with the customized device mount in place.5. The method of wherein the curing further comprises heating to a temperature within the range of about 50-150 C.6. The method of wherein the curing further comprises heating for a time interval within a range of about 0.1-3.0 hours.7. The method of ...
