Printing position alignment method and printing apparatus

Номер: US20120033007A1
Принадлежит: Canon Inc

Multiple alignment patterns, each composed of first and second alignment pattern elements printed by forward and backward movements of a print head, respectively, are formed while the relative printing positions of the two elements are shifted. From optical characteristics data thereof, whether the data is influenced by a disturbance is determined. When the data is determined to be less influenced by the disturbance and therefore to be reliable, an adjusting value for aligning positions in printing in reciprocal movements is calculated by use of: data with the smallest relative printing position misalignment between the first and second alignment pattern elements; and data of optical characteristics close to the data. When the data is largely influence by the disturbance, a range of shifting of relative position is widened than that of the data less influenced by the disturbance so that more data pieces are used to obtain the adjusting value.

A printing apparatus is an apparatus that performs color printing using an inkjet system, and includes a scanning mechanism by which a printing medium is moved in a scanning direction, and an ejection unit that ejects minute ink droplets toward the printing medium that is being conveyed by the scanning mechanism. In the printing apparatus, an image capturing part captures an image of a page identifier printed on each page of a printing medium, and an inspection part compares a page identification result acquired from an output of the image capturing part with page identification information included in print data. Since the page identifier includes single-color parts that are each printed with only an ink of a respective one of a plurality of colors used in the printing apparatus, a printing defect can be quickly detected during inspection of the first page in which the printing defect has occurred, irrespective of with which ink color out of the plurality of colors the printing defect has occurred.

Method of adjusting surface topography

Номер: US20130074765A1
Принадлежит: Inca Digital Printers Ltd

Methods for adjusting the topography of a surface, such as for making a support surface substantially flat, e.g. for mitigating variations in a print gap, are described. The topography of the surface is first measured, and then a shim layer is printed to approximate the topography to a reference topography, the thickness of the layer being calculated using the measurements. For example the print gap comprising the distance between the surface of a printer table and printing means, such as a printhead. The print gap is first measured before at least one layer of ink is printed, using the printing means, at a selected position based on the measured print gap. The thickness of the layer of ink is selected to mitigate the variations in the print gap. In some embodiments, a substrate support surface may then be arranged over the printer table, so that the printed layer is disposed between the printer table and the substrate support surface. The apparatus can compensate for variations in the print gap due both to irregularities in the printer table surface and misalignment in mounting of the printing means. Also described is a printer table produced according to the methods described.

Systems and methods perform a first monitoring of a printing engine to produce first data; match a disturbance model that empirically describes types of color variation in a print process to the first data; generate a minimum variance control system based on the identified parameters of the disturbance model. The systems/methods infer a benchmark performance level the minimum variance control system achieves using the disturbance model; adjust operating parameters of a controller of the printing engine to match parameters of the minimum variance control system; perform a second monitoring of the printing engine to produce second data; determine a difference value between the benchmark performance level and the second data. If the difference value is above a first value and below a second value, the process is repeated. If the difference value is above the first value and the second value, an indication that the printing engine needs servicing is provided.

GUIDED TRANSPORT PATH CORRECTION

Номер: US20220039265A1
Принадлежит:

A printer deposits material onto a substrate as part of a manufacturing process for an electronic product; at least one transported component experiences error, which affects the deposition. This error is mitigated using transducers that equalize position of the component, e.g., to provide an “ideal” conveyance path, thereby permitting precise droplet placement notwithstanding the error. In one embodiment, an optical guide (e.g., using a laser) is used to define a desired path; sensors mounted to the component dynamically detect deviation from this path, with this deviation then being used to drive the transducers to immediately counteract the deviation. This error correction scheme can be applied to correct for more than type of transport error, for example, to correct for error in a substrate transport path, a printhead transport path and/or split-axis transport non-orthogonality. 1. A method of fabricating a thin-film layer , the method comprising:controlling a conveyance system to provide relative transport between a material source and a substrate along a conveyance path, wherein during the relative transport, the substrate is to be supported by a support structure and the material source is to deposit a material onto the substrate in order to form the thin-film layer;providing an optical source to form an optical beam and providing an optical detector fixed in position relative to at least one of the material source or the substrate;causing the optical detector to detect divergence of the position of the optical detector from the optical beam during the relative transport, and responsively generate an output; anddriving at least one transducer to displace at least one of the material source or the detector relative to the conveyance path, in dependence on the output, so as to cause the position of the optical detector to remain coincident with the beam during the relative transport.2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises forming an ...
