Die Schwenksteuereinheit nimmt die Schwenksteuerung wieder auf, wenn sich das Schwenkanzeigesignal in den Ausschaltzustand ändert.

A headlamp levelling arrangement 1 considers both vehicle pitch and elevation of the headlamps above the road in order to maintain illumination of a constant distance in front of the vehicle. A vehicle posture detection system 2, preferably detecting the height of the chassis above the road (figure 2), measures the pitch of the vehicle. The control system 3 calculates an angular adjustment 3a for the pitch of the headlamps to compensate for the pitch of the vehicle. The control system then adds an angular correction 3b to compensate for deviation from a reference level of vehicle height, which also affects the range of the headlamps. This correction may be determined from the output of a height sensor at the front of the vehicle or it maybe determined from the acceleration of the vehicle as measured by a running state detection system 6.

An angular detecting unit 3a detects the inclining angle of the main body of the vehicle in the back and forth direction depending upon the output signals produced from the stroke sensors while a traveling sensing unit 3b senses a traveling status and a stopping status of the vehicle. A control unit 3 adjusts the optical beam axis of the head lamp 5 through an actuator 4 during stopping of the vehicle, corresponding to the detected angular data produced from the stroke sensors 1 and 2; and averaged during a certain specified period which precedes the adjustment.

Otherwise, the headlamp illumination range is set to full illumination range.
