They use dedicated narrow lanes adjacent to existing intra-city streets or limits of inter-city roads. Means to stablise the narrow vehicles 10-1 against rollover and also eliminate swaying comprise claws 10-2, 10-3 or hooks on dedicated rails 10-6, 10-7, magnets acting on steel strips or walls bounding the lanes. These means are designed to allow the crossing of the lanes with roads andc for normal vehicles without damage. This can be achieved by covered trenches at cross roads for non-stop crossing. Each narrow vehicle 10-1 is low profile and has enough doors for passenger access to seats with no inside aisle. Trenches can run along most or all the lanes, in which case adherence to streets and roads is relieved.

A vehicle that is guided by a guiding system is monitored for derailment. The guiding system has a guiding member interacting with a railhead of a rail that guides the vehicle. The device includes a clamp with a bottom jaw tightly surrounding the railhead in a contactless manner in the closed position thereof, capable of opening the jaw when interaction is lost between the guiding member and the rail. The opening results when the railhead at least partially exits the jaw. A top rod of the clamp enables mechanical transmission of the opening of the jaw to a switch. The switch has a nominal configuration corresponding to the closed position of the clamp during correct re-railing and an alarm configuration generated by mechanical transmission of the opening of the jaw to the switch. The alarm configuration actuates a safety system of the guided vehicle.

The steering system is used for a suspended railway which has non-adjustable switching point. The running gear has load carrying driven wheels and lateral guide rollers. The travelling direction is changed reliably and safely. In the region of the switching point, the steering arrangements on the running gear of the vehicle act in conjunction with the fixed guide for branching. The guiding arrangement on vehicle has lever arm for actuating guide rollers (14) on pivoted double arm lever (12).
