A flow control system is used to control fluid flow at the boundary layer an object or body about or within which the fluid flows relative to the body. One or more sensor elements are disposed proximate a top region of the actuated membrane for sensing fluid conditions at the boundary layer flow. A membrane actuator provides the displacement, for example, by extending or contracting the actuated membrane in a direction substantially tangential to the actuated membrane. A feedback device is responsive to a system of sensor elements and is coupled to a system of membrane actuators to cause the displacement in one or more regions of the actuated membrane in response to the sensed fluid conditions. The flow control system controls the fluid flow by providing turbulence modification and reducing drag, radiated noise, and other undesirable effects caused by fluid flow relative to an object.

Method and system for regulating pressure and optimizing fluid flow about a fuselage similar body

The present invention features a fluid flow regulator that functions to significantly influence fluid flow across the surface of a fuselage or similar structure as part of a moving or stationary body, as well as to significantly effect the performance of the body subjected to the fluid. The fluid flow regulator comprises a pressure recovery drop that induces a sudden drop in pressure at an optimal pressure recovery point on said surface, such that a sub-atmospheric barrier is created that serves as a cushion between the molecules in the fluid and the molecules at the body's surface. More specifically, the present invention fluid flow regulator functions to significantly regulate the pressure gradients that exist along the surface of a body subject to fluid flow. Regulation of pressure gradients is accomplished by selectively reducing the pressure drag at various locations along the surface, as well as the pressure drag induced forward and aft of the body, via the pressure recovery drop. Reducing the pressure drag in turn increases pressure recovery or pressure recovery potential, which pressure recovery subsequently lowers the friction drag along the surface. By reducing or lowering friction drag, the potential for fluid separation is decreased, or in other words, attachment potential of the fluid is significantly increased. All of these effects may be appropriately and collectively phrased and referred to as optimization of fluid flow, wherein the fluid flow, its properties and characteristics (e.g., separation, boundary layer), and relationship to the body are each optimized.

The panes (1) of a naval vessel or military vehicle are often coated with a radar-reflecting layer (20) for reduction of the radar signature of the vessel/vehicle. At the same time this layer increases an enemy’s possibility of recognising the vessel in passive IR reconnaissance since the layer increases the reflectance also for IR radiation to a considerable extent. As a result, the intensity of IR radiation that an enemy receives from the panes is much lower than that from the rest of the vessel, which with signal processing can be used to increase the possibility of recognising the vessel. According to the invention, it is suggested that the panes (1) on the outer face (8) also have a second layer (21, 22) to increase emittance especially within the IR range 2-20 μm which is normally used for reconnaissance and the like. This second layer (21, 22) comprises especially two coatings, one of which is active in the IR range 3-5 μm and the second in the IR range 7-14 μm. The first coating (21) is suggested to comprise tin dioxide and the second coating (22) oxidised silicon nitride.

Various embodiments include a magnetic compensation device for a drone for triggering mines comprising: a flux-guiding element comprising a soft magnetic material in the shape of an open or closed ring; a receiving chamber for the drone for holding the drone; and an electric coil device coupled magnetically to the flux-guiding element so a predetermined magnetic flux can be coupled into the flux-guiding element using the coil device. The flux-guiding element and the receiving chamber are arranged in relation to one another so that a magnetic flux brought about by the drone can be closed through the ring shape of the flux-guiding element.
