A high speed printer for printing on sheets of porous media supplied from a stack of such sheets includes opposed pagewidth printheads. A sheet pick-up assembly is positioned operatively upstream of the pagewidth printheads. The sheet pick-up assembly has a gas conduit in fluid communication with a reversible gas supply, an outlet of the gas conduit being oriented so that the outlet is directed towards a top sheet of the stack such that a stream of gas can be directed out of the outlet and onto the top sheet to penetrate the top sheet and generate a cushion of gas between the first sheet and a second sheet to separate the first and second sheets. The reversible gas supply reverses the direction of the stream of gas back into the outlet to draw the first sheet against the outlet. A sheet feed mechanism is operatively arranged with respect to the, or each printhead and has a displacement mechanism for displacing the gas conduit to feed the first sheet from the stack.

The reversible gas supply reverses the direction of the stream of gas back into the outlet to draw the first sheet against the outlet. A sheet feed mechanism is operatively arranged with respect to the, or each printhead and has a displacement mechanism for displacing the gas conduit to feed the first sheet from the stack.

The lamination apparatus includes a table on which the sheet members are laminated, a clamper that presses an assembled laminate of the sheet members laminated on the table; a clamper drive unit that horizontally-rotates and vertically-moves the clamper, a level adjuster that moves the table downward relative to the clamper according to a lamination progress of the sheet members. After a new sheet member is laminated on the assembled laminate pressed downward by the clamper, the clamper drive unit lifts up the clamper above the new sheet member while rotating the clamper and then moves the clamper downward to press the new sheet member from above. The level adjuster moves the table downward by a stroke corresponding to thickness of the number of laminated sheets of the sheet members included in the assembled laminate.

Selective actuation is based on monitoring downstream movement of fed envelopes. The present invention provides a process wherein a rotary knife or die, with one or more cutting edges, turns against and in coordination with a corresponding cylinder to create preferably trapezoidal ears. Ear material is slit into two lanes, one for a left side of a diaper and the other for a right side of a diaper. Fastening tapes are applied to both the right and the left ear webs. The ear material is then die cut with a nested pattern on a synchronized vacuum anvil. The resulting discrete ear pieces however, due to the trapezoidal pattern of the ears, alternate between a correct orientation and an incorrect (reversed) orientation. The reversed ear is required to be rotated 180° into the correct orientation such that the ears and associated tape present a left ear and a right ear on the diaper.

An unloading and erecting apparatus has a frame fixed to a magazine holding a stack of flattened cartons, an outer horizontal guide on the frame, an outer horizontal slide horizontally displaceable on the outer horizontal guide and carrying a nonstraight outer vertical guide. A drive motor connected to the outer horizontal slide horizontally displaces same. A vertical guide on the frame carries a vertical slide and another drive motor connected to the vertical slide vertically displaces same. A shaft pivotal about a generally horizontal axis transverse to the forward direction on the vertical slide is fixed horizontally relative to the outer horizontal slide. A gripper fixed on and angularly displaceable with the shaft is engageable with the frontmost carton of the stack and carries a lever angularly coupled to the gripper and having offset from the axis a follower engaged in the vertical guide of the outer slide for, on vertical movement of the vertical slide, pivoting the gripper between a pick-off position engageable with the frontmost carton and a drop-off position directed downwardly above the conveyor.

A first angular velocity of the head is substantially constant at the point of discrete article transfer.

The present invention relates to a continuous tape supply apparatus which continuously supplies, in a process of attaching insulating tape (hereinafter referred to as ′tape′) to the outside of a battery for an electric vehicle, the tape wound around a pair of tape feeding roll parts composed of a first tape feeding roll unit and a second tape feeding roll unit around which tape is wound in a roll type; and a method for continuously supplying the tape. More specifically, the apparatus for continuously supplying tape using a tape exchange unit automatically replaces the tape wound around the first or second tape feeding roll unit with tape wound around another tape feeding roll unit on standby for feeding before the tape wound around the first or second tape feeding unit is completely supplied and exhausted. The apparatus includes: two suction pads spaced by a predetermined distance at each of upper and lower portions of the tape exchange unit to fix the tape; a pair of upper and lower joint tape suction blocks having a surface to which joint tape for connecting the cut tape between the two suction pads at upper and lower portions is attached; and a tape cutter for cutting the tape fixed by the suction pads. According to the present invention, the apparatus and method for continuously supplying the tape can smoothly supply the tape, shorten tape replacement time, and reduce errors in tape joints when the tape on the tape feeding unit is replaced.

An apparatus is provided herein for destacking foil sheets. The apparatus includes a stack station provided with holding means for holding at least two stacks of foil sheets at different vertical locations from one another; a deposition station which is horizontally spaced from the stack station and which is provided with holding means for receiving the foil sheets; and a transfer station between the stack station and the deposition station, the transfer station comprising a transfer platform extending between the deposition station and the stack station; a pair of guide rails flanking the transfer platform; a first suction beam extending between the guide rails and displaceable thereon back and forth between the stations for withdrawing a foil sheet from the stack onto the transfer platform and along the transfer platform to the deposition station; and means forming a pivot axis for the transfer platform, the guide rails and the suction beam at a downstream side of the transfer station and at a side of the deposition station adjoining the transfer station for enabling upward and downward swinging of an upstream side of the transfer station relative to the stacking station and relative vertical displacement of the suction beam and the holding means.

The invention concerns a method for unstacking sheets stacked in a feeder, comprising a step which consists in bringing a vacuum cup close to the surface of the sheet at the top of the stack; a step which consists in contacting the vacuum cup with the surface of said top sheet and a step in bringing the vacuum cup away after seizing the top sheet. The invention is characterized in that the vacuum cup is applied in an off-center zone of the top sheet, and said vacuum cup is inclined, when it starts to move away, so as to cause the top sheet to be deformed thereby producing a separation prior to complete separation of the top sheet.
