An easy open screw type or flip top closure 1 for a bottle 7, jar or container which incorporates a lever 4 attached to the closure 1 which extends downwards from the uppermost part of the closure along the body of the said bottle or jar or container. The lever 4 may be raised and rotated about pivot 5 through 270 degrees until it engages a groove 8 in the top of the closure and extends horizontally from the uppermost part of the closure, opposite the side it began at rest. The lever 4 may be able to rotate the closure 1 for removal when it is engaged in the groove 8. The lever may be rotated further than 270 degrees to pull off or flip part of the closure, the flip top and lever remaining attached for restoration to the starting positions. Utensil and method

A utensil (300, fig. 5) for attaching a lid 200 to a container 100, comprising a gripping portion 320 and a base portion 310, the base portion comprising a lid retainer (350, fig. 10) and a pressing portion 316. A closure for a transportable container used in the transfer of materials to or from an enclosed process area is described. The container docks with a port in a wall of the process area forming a sealed connecting chamber which is sterilized by irradiation. Communication between the interiors of the container and the process area is then established. The closure has a collar and a lid, which portions are formed so that all the surfaces which form part of the connecting chamber in use are in the direct line of the sterilizing radiation, which is normally ultra-violet or pulsed white light radiation. No relevant surface is shadowed from the radiation. The lid may be formed integrally with the collar with a thin web separating the two to define a fracture line. The lid is provided with a grip which can be grasped from within the process area. Application of a pulling force to the grip causes the lid to be pealed away from the collar without the generation of particulates.
