A functionalized polymer containing at least one reactive carbonyl group, more preferably at least one beta-dicarbonyl group, is provided. The polymer is preferably substantially free of segments derived from bisphenol A and epoxides thereof. The functionalized polymer, which can be a polyether polymer, is useful in preparing coating compositions for use in packaging applications, including coating compositions for use in forming interior or exterior coatings of food or beverage containers. 1. An article comprising a food or beverage container , or a portion thereof , the article comprising:a metal substrate;a thermally-cured coating disposed on at least a portion of the substrate, wherein the coating was formed by baking a coating composition at a temperature of at least 150° C., and wherein, prior to bake, the coating composition comprises a polymer having a beta-dicarbonyl group.2. The article of claim 1 , wherein the polymer comprises a polyether polymer.3.
