A new pigment has now been developed which comprises particulate titanium dioxide having an organic coating of isostearic acid and dodecyl benzene sulphonic acid. The pigment particles should be free of any inorganic coating A method of manufacture of the pigment is disclosed in which the isostearic acid and dodecyl benzene sulphonic acid are emulsified in water prior to addition of an aqueous dispersion of the pigment. Remarkably it has been discovered that after treatment the pigment does not require milling in a fluid energy mill and that separation from the supernatant liquid can be effected by decantation.

The self-dispersing pigments prepared by this process are useful in making décor paper that may be used in paper laminates.

In the titania fine-particle composite, titania fine particles functioning as cores have a high degree of crystallization and the intermolecular interaction between titania fine particles and the carboxylic monomer or polymer is strong. Therefore, the titania fine-particle composite can be uniformly dispersed in a dispersion medium to attain high transparency and high stability. Provided is a titanium dioxide pigment having minimal yellow color and minimal yellowing due to exposure, i.e., good yellowing resistance and high pigment performance such as brightness. A cost-effective process for loading particulate pigment into a polymer concentrate includes adding a basic pH aqueous solution having a water soluble organic salt to a milled particulate pigment to form an organic-coated particulate pigment. Without a prior micronization step, the organic-coated particulate pigment is mixed with a polymer resin to form a polymer concentrate having from about 50% to about 87% by weight particulate pigment with dispersibility comparable to micronized organic-coated particulate pigment. 1. 本发明涉及一种高耐候钛白粉的制备方法,包括制浆,分散,硅酸盐调制、砂磨,二次砂磨,硅酸盐调制,硅酸盐调制,铝盐调制及干燥和粉碎等八个步骤。本发明在钛白粉颗粒表面形成一层完整均匀致密的玻璃质氧化硅膜层,在根本上阻止氧气和水分子与钛白粉表面空穴接触,避免钛白粉光催化反应降解涂料或塑料等基体,提高涂层或型材等耐候性,同时使得钛白粉颗粒间相互作用力变弱,需要少量的能量就可以达到优异的粒径和粒径分布,降低了生产成本,同时具有较好的配方适用性。

The porous titanium oxide powder can be obtained by subjecting a titanium salt solution to hydrolysis by heating under the presence of an aliphatic alcohol and/or a substance having a carboxyl group or a carbonyl group, and then further carrying out heating treatment with an acid. The titanium oxide primary particles preferably have a mean particle diameter of 1 to 50 nm, and the powder preferably has an approximately spherical shape with the ratio of the minor axis to the major axis being at least 0.75 .
